Guest guest
Hi Jeanine. You have been having trouble getting your point made! Oh well, I had a roofer up in attic and I told him wanted to alleviate moisture up there and pointed to black sooty parts on wood beams (and musty smell in room below). He rubbed them slightly and said oh it's just an old house and that is dirt. Well, dirt is not tar black in color so it is or was mold at one time (unless it is fire place ash). There is also the tar black dust on top of insulation. Not alot but it's sprinkled around. Nobody seems to know about it. Big secret out there. I didn't used to. Charing of wood would have to have been done by fire or fireplace, not dirt from outside. Maybe fire place smoke is getting up there. I can check that out but it would be loose and not stuck to wood. However it definately isn't *dirt*. I guess if we have a cold night (?), I'll put a fire in fireplace. Neighbors will think I went batty, to see if somem smoke from fireplace gets up into attic. If not, I'll do a swab test to see if it is mold. There was test up there before and mold count was too high but I have some improvements, so will test again, before doing any more work in regards to attic air and it's affect on indoor air in living space. --- who <jeaninem660@...> wrote: > I think you are missing my point about the toy > in the tub being covered > with black mold. its basicly is the same as the > fruit and bread concept. > what I am saying is that if your in a home > where the mold problem has > evolved to being
Guest guest
barb--one of the biggest problems we face is the fact that inspectors, workers, technicians, etc. are apparently poorly trained. Pursue this--it sounds like a concern. I live in Texas and am having to pay to fly out the person who used to perform my repairs, inspections, etc. at my house in North Carolina. I called him today after I realized I am not getting anywhere with these people. No insults intended to Texas, most of these repair people hail from other places. I needed to vent because I am so very ill and unable to find another house I do not react inside of--either too new or too old. And I am not getting better and time is beginning to pass me by big time. All of you on this board are in my prayers. And I hope you will say one for me. I think anyone with mold issues/health problems is tired of all of it from time to time. My husband told me today he did not think I would ever be normal again. Facing what may be an actuality hurts. Guest guest
yes, I know and its my own fault, haven't been felling the greatest lately. > > > I think you are missing my point about the toy > > in the tub being covered > > with black mold. its basicly is the same as the > > fruit and bread concept. > > what I am saying is that if your in a home > > where the mold problem has > > evolved to being >
Guest guest
Leigh, I agree with your complaint about " inspectors, worker, technicians, etc. " And that Jeanine should pursue her problems. However, your North Carolina inspector needs to be careful if he comes to Texas and finds mold. Texas has a law restricting mold inspections and remediators to only those licensed by the state. However, there are exceptions that may apply. Go to the Attorney General for Texas Web site for details: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/mold_remed.shtml BTW, this site also has a description of the CLUE Report discussed on another thread. Guest guest
Dear Leigh, I would be more than happy to provide the names of some reputable inspectors, workers, technicians, etc....I live in Texas and have worked for a licensed remediation contractor who has been in business for 15 years plus. We have sucessfully remediated hundreds of federal, state, and local projects. Flying an inspector in from NC seems like quite an expensive alternative but it is your dime! john in texas Re: [] Black sooty dust - Jeanine Leigh, I agree with your complaint about " inspectors, worker, technicians, etc. " And that Jeanine should pursue her problems. Guest guest
--Please send me the list. I particularly need an ac company, foundation people, carpenter, etc. However, I have lots of airmiles so that part would be free to me. I just have not had too much luck so far with my ac, foundation or carpetner people.
