Guest guest
Ft. Mac is not a bad drive from North Henry County. I wouldn’t want to drive it from anywhere south of Stockbridge, though. Lora From: autism [mailto:autism ] On Behalf Of lin Sent: Friday, February 08, 2008 3:16 PM autism Subject: Updated info..newbie A while back we thought we were going somewhere else, things have changed a couple times. We are definately going to Ft. McPhearson. I am working with a realtor through my bank and the only houses he has sent to me is in Henry County. What are the schools really like in Henry Co? It seems like a long drive to make twice a day. DD will be starting school the day after her birthday here in Texas (3 y/o) and I want to make sure we are transitioning into something similar or better, kwim? Is there another school district that is better that Henry in relation to Ft. Mc? Also, I'm guessing that ATL is rather large and there is a LOT of traffic. So how long does it really take to get from A to B around there? TIA, CC
Guest guest
From Henry Co. to Ft. McPherson can take a good 30 - 45 minutes and some days even longer depending on the time of day you go. My cousin has a child with Autism in Henry. I don't know a lot about Henry except the bad things she has told me about their Babies Can't Wait program. Her son will turn three this month and she seemed excited about the school after her IEP. He will be the only child in his special needs pre-k class - so, at least in her area, the teacher/student ratio sounds good. I believe the school is Hickory Flat Elementary School. Unfortunately, there are few services on that side of town, too. I have heard great things about Fayette Co. schools for children with Autism. If you decide to look there, the commute time would be about the same.Hope this helps.- Rhonda H. lin <widdle_one81@...> wrote: A while back we thought we were going somewhere else, things have changed a couple times. Guest guest
Fayette County would be far better than Henry which completely sucks in every aspect of quality of life. > > Ft. Guest guest
The biggest problem with Henry County is too much growth too fast, and traffic is TERRIBLE. Fayette is still a good place to live. There are some areas of south Fulton County that are nice now. College Park, which is very close to Ft. Mac is in the process of " gentrification " , and a good realtor can find you a nice place there at a good price. Schools everywhere are not great, even in Fayette, for special needs.
