If you want to answer off-list, fine.

Can you tell me:

1) Can you pay privately to go to Bright Futures?

2) Do you have to be statemented?

3) Is it all 1:1, or is some of the teaching in small groups?

4) How old can you take a child?

Asking for a mate in Bury.

Hi Eileen

We're not ruling out private payment....but fees will be iro £20K, so not many

will be able to afford that. Experience from other schools shows that often

parents who start out paying fees can very quickly find that they cant afford

it, even though they're prioritising it. So I guess it needs a lot of thinking

about, as most families wont want to be in a position of moving a child after

the child has settled because they find they cant manage the fees.

We anticipate that the majority, if not all our pupils, will have statements.

If they are working towards a statement, we may be able to help them 'position'

the statement to maximise their chances of getting our school named on the

statement....but we couldnt take them until the statement (and therefore the

funding) was in place, because our cash flow just wont accommodate that.

Teaching will be 1-1 and small groups depending on the needs of the child - as

much group work as poss but will depend on mix of pupils and level of child's

emotional development rather than chronological age.

Re age - the youngest will be 7 years at Sept 2010. If the school is successful

we will want to be able to take on both older and younger children but to begin

with we need to start with what is achievable for us, and currently this is the

7 - 14 cohort.

Ideally we want families who are using or working towards using RDI. It is the

RDI home programme that makes the most difference and we are clear that our

school's role is very much to play a supporting role in the remediation that is

led by the parents.

We hope to be able to run support groups for parents of our pupils who are

interested in/doing RDI and we are also looking at getting the funding for the

home programme in the school fee......so that parents dont have to fight for the

costs of the home programme.

If your friend wants to give me a ring I am more than happy to chat. You can e

mail me at zoet @ consultancynorthwest.com (no spaces) and I'll give you my

phone no.

Hope that helps.
