Guest guest
Thank you Dr. Garnett. I have been so out of the loop, dealing with my own school district, I did not realize there was a special session going on. I am impressed that the legislators have finally realized that our kids are expensive to educate and that special money needs to be pulled aside. But I hope schools just don't get a blanket amount of money for children with autism. The schools should get more money if they are doing EFFECTIVE work which can be proven through the children's PROGRESS, and obviously a program based on research. Quite frankly if my school just got more money right now they would just be able to buy more 'stuff'. They would not know how to teach the 'stuff' to my child but the classroom would be full of 'stuff'. Keep us posted Dr. Garnett on any new information. Hope to see you soon. Guest guest
Oh my heavens, I just saw the date on the newspaper article, April 2004, so they aren't in special session. Sorry folks for the confusion. Still an interesting article. Liz.
