Guest guest
> This can be remedied, the platform claims, by eliminating " government-sponsored programs that deal with early childhood development, " with pre-school and kindergarten being phased out " as soon as possible, " with discontinuation of providing " a free appropriate public education to all children with special needs, " .... At all events, " the Party urges the Texas Legislature to . . . not increase taxes even for funding of schools. " (The platform does " deplore the inordinate amount of time being forced upon teachers and students for state- mandated standardized test preparation to the detriment of basic academic instruction.< I don't understand how they can say they want to stop providing a free and appropriate education to children with special needs. Isn't that in violation of the law. They may be planning on changing the law. This is very disturbing but not surprising because it has been obvious that as more children develop autism the government is doing everything they can to refuse help of any kind. An example is the attempt to exempt the drug companies from liabilty in the Homeland Security Bill, the changing of the IDEA to disregard our children's needs, the cutting off of funds in Texas and other states. Guest guest
, I guess it all goes back to priorities ... and how the money spent will reward (in votes or other ways) those who have the power to spend the money ... award the biggest slice of the pie to whoever can give you the most ... maybe I'm being too cynical? But I really like the idea of a " call-in-a-thon " to 's office! Wonder if anybody's ever tried it? -Anita > > This can be remedied, the platform claims, by eliminating " government-sponsored programs that deal with early childhood development, " with pre-school and kindergarten being phased out " as soon as possible, " with discontinuation of providing " a free appropriate public education to all children with special needs, " .... < > I don't understand how they can say they want to stop providing a free and appropriate education to children with special needs.
