Manon,

That is so great. I am happy to hear you can finally get casted.

Remember to bring a few washable toys, a bottle(if taking one), a

pacifier or lollipop, anything special(ie:soap) that you use for a

bath. They have everything there, but some babies need certain brands

or types of soap. They can have a bottle or pacifier while the front

is being done(helps alot) and then you use the toys to entertain when

the back is being done. Let us know how it goes. I'm so excited for

you.

Manon,

If you do Fridays you don't want to do it too late in

the afternoon. Traffic coming around the beltway

starting around 2pm during the summer can be bad. (I

once missed a 6 pm flight out of BWI and left around

2pm). But you will be in August pretty soon and

traffic lets up somewhat then. Also I don't know where

exactly in Baltimore you are, but there are some

" backways " to get down here -- 97, 295, 270. Depends

on where exactly you are coming from. Sometimes

Balt/Wash Parkway isn't too bad. It is that stretch

from 95/495 interchange to the 270 split that can be a

bear. Coming through the city might be an option

sometimes too. Let's face it Northern VA is a parking

lot!

That is an idea Carol. And here I am almost done. I

guess I could play hookie one day and pretend we have

an appointment ...

Do you mind me asking if your lung cancer is small-cell or large cell? My dad

has been battling small-cell lung cancer for over two years. What alternative

treatments are you doing? I assume you have not done any chemo or radiation.

My dad has done both but he is starting to open up to some alternative

treatments.

I'm glad you got good news! I hope you continue to do well.

Subject: [ ] Good news

I am doing alternative things for my stage 4 lung cancer. Got x-rays

yesterday and cancer has not grown. I would have liked to hear that

it got smaller, but that it is the same is good news. Thank God.

I see my doctor today. Additional comments on the report say " slight

interim decrease in the conspicuity of a previous documented left mid

lung mass " I am not sure what this means.

: It is the non-small cell type. My MD said Friday that

internim decrease as noted on x-ray means that it is dissolving. I

have a 1/2 in diameter in the other lung but does not show up on x-

ray because it is too small. Dr. says that is good. I have never

tried chemo or radiation as did not want to weaken my body.

Everything I take is to strengthen my body to heal itself. I just

finished a month of drip Vit C injections (3x a week) Dr. thinks

that this had a lot to do with the healing. I have a

massage/reflexology once a week. I did 2 colonics. I am eating a

meatless, high in raw food diet. This is VERY good. I cannot do the

preferred 75% raw food as was losing weight. I need some pasta and

bread. Sugar feeds cancer and is absolutely forbidden. Some people

feel that a raw food diet is more important than anything else. Any

of these things would also be of benefit if undergoing alternative

treatment.

I take quite a lot of antioxitants. IP6, detox factors, green tea

extract, grapeseed, CoQ-10,Vit D, Curcumin, NAC,Inflo-Zyme Forte, &

meletonin before bed. The CoQ10 is pretty expensive at $85 for 60 -

200mg tabs and take 200mg 2x day. The mega Vit C drip shots were

$100 each. Still cheaper than drugs. A good ND would prescribe what

he thought beneficial, I am sure based on the individual patient. I

am very happy with my ND. I hope that this helps. It takes a little

longer with natural treatment, but there are no nasty side effects.

Everyone has to decide what they think is the best for them. I walk

very close to God and pray a lot too.

At Costco they sell 75 CoQ10 pills at 150 mg for $25, much less than what you

are paying.

That is EXCELLENT NEWS!!! Congratulations to your family! The first few

weeks can be rather squirrely during the initial 'house cleaning' in

the gut. Glad you found out a workable solution!

And with the stress level down, that should help everyone's quality of

life.

rebuild your bodies so that you can stay strong. Blessings,

All,

I just wanted to share some good news on my family's recovery from

Lyme. My wife has come off of abx since her test have come back

negative and she hasn't had any major symptoms in a while. She has

been off of the abx for a week and feels great. She joined Weight

Watchers 2 weeks ago and has lost 10 lbs. We will be keeping a

close eye on her. She has a checkup scheduled to do another blood

test in November.

Kathy,

I posted it because we always hear and read of struggles of the

recovery process.

I think it is equally important for all of us to post our recovery

sucesses as well.

I have been on this board since the begining of this year. I have

seen many people post how serious their conditions are at first and

then gradually over time they disappear. I believe that's because

as they start to recover they don't need the support or information

any more.

They seem to forget to remind everyone of their success in

recovering. I would get depressed in the begining reading all of

the struggles without hearing any of the progress people do make.

I wanted everyone to know that there is hope and I believe that we

can all recover!

Be well,

Achetiredmom,

Sure. On a Lyme scale of 1 to 10 I was at a 9. My family and I

must have gotten it at our old house where there were many deer and

we have dogs. I believe I was infected 5 years before I was dx'd in

December of last year. I believe my wife was infected 3 years ago

and passed it to my son when she was pregnant. We have all been

negative for co-infections but we constantly test just in case.

Many years of wierd unexplainable symptoms (tingling arms and legs,

fatigue...) but my major symptoms began with a case of Pneumonia in

September of last year. Things went down hill quickly after that;

stomach problems, possible ulcers, possible hernia, orthopedic

problems, major neurological problems (doctors thought I might have

MS), multiple ER visits thinking I was having major heart attacks

(given nitro gliceren at the ER), cardiac specialist and many

cardiac tests, tested for PE's, pain in the kidney areas, major pain

in the neck and calf area's, eye floaters, Lyme head aches, constant

cracking of my neck, major weight gain, white spots on my tongue and

others I possible have forgotten. When I went for my first LLMD

visit I had a list of over 20 different symptoms.

My wife had very minor symptoms, she gained a lot of weight and had

arthritic issues with her hips. My son never exhibited any major

Lyme symptoms. Once I learned about how tricky Lyme is I insisted

that they both get tested and it turned out that they both had it

(not by cdc standards but the clinical dx was positive for both of

them). They both had positve bands for Lyme.

I started in December of last year with my Primary Care Physician

who put me on a dose of amoxicillan (this is what they give infants

with Lyme), I was lucky to find this group and a very nice lady on

this board recommended the best LLMD. After my first visit my LLMD

switched my prescription to Doxy (that very day before her blood

tests were even sent out). I was on Doxy for about 10 weeks and

then she switched me to Ceftin. She doesn't like to use Doxy in the

summer and I responded well on the Ceftin.

My wife was on Ceftin for about 4 months and now her tests are

negative and she has no symptoms.

I was doing well for the first six months, getting better slowly.

When I thought I was better I got a little careless with my

treatment and I slipped from 95% better back to about 90%. Still

feeling well but over the summer I had gone to some parties and had

a few drinks which made me slip back a little. Since re-focusing on

my treatment I feel that I'm back to about 98%. The final 2% may

not be Lyme at all, but I have to work on loosing about 50 lbs. I'm

6 feet 4 inches and I'm currently about 320 lbs. But I'm symptom

free and I have very high energy levels for about the past 6 weeks.

I know how tough it is, how hopeless it can see. But I'm here to

tell you that me and my family have returned from the abise. I

believe that we can all recover!

It's my opinion that the most important thing you can do to recover

is to get to the best LLMD that you can. Someone that has over 10

years of treating Lyme patients and a proven track record of

successfull recoveries. Simply ask their office. Second is to work

with a Naturopathic doctor to balance the abx treatments and

supplement your total health. Find a qualified Naturopathic, ask

your LLMD if they can recommend someone. Finally find ways to do

the appropriate amount of exercise (if you can't walk or are wheel

chair bound work closely with a physical therapist under the

direction of your LLMD).

On the holistic side of my treatment I have realized that the most

important thing I did to recover was to relax. Do all of your

research and due diligence and then relax and leave your treatment

in the hands of the great doctors that you have choosen. Minimize

your exposure to any and all NEGATIVE information that you might

find on the Internet. The more you relax the more your body has a

chance of recovering! Don't worry too much and get plenty of rest.

Initially when you start feeling better you will want to do a

million things all at once to catch up on everything that you have

missed. Stop and force yourself to relax or you will have a

relapse. Take it from me! You will need to slow down to speed up

the recovery process.

I hope this helps. I'm hear to let you know that there is hope and

it has gotten much better for me and my family. We're almost back

to 100% and the one positive lesson that I have taken out of this

journey is to cherish every moment of health that we have. Remember

to stop and appreciate the good stuff in our lives. Don't over look

the small stuff :-)

Be well,

and family

Kathy,

Know that with the right treatments you will get better. I know

it's a very tough time right now. I was there for a long time, but

now I'm back to living life the way I felt before I was infected by

this terrible disease.

Like most things that are worth while in this life recovering won't

come easy. You will have to work at it. Be sure to keep a positive

attitude. Even if you have to celebrate each small victory (like

finding this board where there are people who have recovered from

where you are now). Find the inspiration and know that you will get

better.

I feel that with the right treatments we can all recover!

Be well. I wish you a speedy recovery :-)

,

How have you been feeling. From reading your posts it sounds like

you are doing better. I remember when you had the very bad

neurologial problems and ever Lyme symptoms.

How have you been feeling recently?

Be well,

I am working and for the first time in 17 years with a

renewed sense of well bieng..minocycline seems to

target lyme directly so you herx even on small doses.

you wont feel better till you stop and that is the

truth..but then you have to restart..hit them again

and again..

Hi , I am so pleased to hear how well you and your family are

doing!! I was diagnosed in May with Lyme and have been taking

antibiotics since. You mentioned a " test " your wife had that came

back negative--you also mentioned your " test " still shows lyme, " but

the levels are down " --What test are you referring to? I am not

familiar with a test that shows 'levels' of lyme. I am only aware of

tests that look for antibodies to borrelia burgdorferi. I would be

interested in the test you refer to. Also, you mentioned your wife's

loss of 10 pounds--was there a relationship between her lyme disease

and weight gain? Thanks for you time. And again, congrats on healing!!
