CRYSHAME PRESS RELEASE 29 AUGUST 2010

VACCINE DAMAGE AWARD TO MMR INJURED CHILD

www.cryshame.co.uk

CryShame is delighted to learn of the decision to award compensation to Fletcher for the devastation the MMR has inflicted on his life.

But CryShame asks when will the many children who have descended into autism, epilepsy and bowel disease following the MMR have their claims addressed and their suffering compensated for. Six years ago 1500 children with autism and related conditions had their legal aid for compensation from the MMR manufacturers withdrawn. The Government claims the MMR is safe, whilst recklessly ignoring the worst epidemic currently affecting children, with one in 64 children in the UK now diagnosed as autistic.

The government will not reveal how much it spends on researching the causes of autism. But in 2006 it published a report showing that only £1m was spent on the fastest growing developmental illness affecting UK children. Now these children are growing into adults and more younger children are being diagnosed with autism. The government should stop pretending the problem is going to disappear into history. The growing costs will be borne by society for years to come.

The government must commit itself to research the causes of autism, including the role of the MMR. The Vaccine Damage Payment Unit should stop discounting the role of vaccines on the onset of autism and bowel disease, a judgement with no research to support it. It should consider autism as well as associated conditions such as epilepsy and neurological damage.

The Department of Health can no longer claim that the MMR is safe.

CryShame

Cryshame is a group of parents who saw their children regress into autism after the MMR jab. Cryshame wholeheartedly supports Dr Wakefield and Professor - who were unjustly delicensed as medical practitioners by GMC following research which questioned the role of MMR in autism and bowel disease
