Guest guest
Very interesting.......my daughter was bitten by a deer tick when she was 3 years old. We had the tick tested by our health department (female, nymph stage - the main carrier of lyme). Our pediatrician said that she had a 50/50 chance of developing Lyme. We waited and no symptoms ever occurred. We had her tested for lyme disease three months after the bite and again at 6 months after the bite. She always tested negative, but interestingly enough EXACTLY 3 months after her bite is when our lives tumbled out of control with her anxiety and OCD and ADHD. We brought this up to every one of her specialists and ALL of them said that it could NOT be the cause. Her psychiatrist said that it would have had to hit her physically first before she could have developed any neurologic effects of Lyme, and she NEVER got sick or showed any physical symptoms. She is now 8 years old. I decided that we will NEVER know if this was the cause or not. Even if it was.......there is nothing we could do about it now. But my gut tells me that it is more than coincidental! Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
This is very interesting-my dd also had Lymes Disease before she was diagnosed with OCD. I have to check that link and if anyone has any other info, I'd love to see it. Dawn G.
Guest guest
We have not been affected by Lyme disease personally, but I have a friend whose son was, and I know that there are neurologists out there that specialize in this. It might be worth a google search to find someone that specializes in it....... mykeirkel@... wrote: Very interesting.......my daughter was bitten by a deer tick when she was 3 years old. Guest guest
Kathy, I think you can still find out and still treat it. You will have to look for a doctor who recognizes the long term effects of Lyme. There seem to be two schools of thought on Lyme Disease. The conventional idea is that Lyme is easily detected with tests and treated with 4 weeks of antibiotics and then whatever symptoms are left you are stuck with. Then there are some doctors who will diagnose Lyme based on symptoms and history as well as different tests and treat aggressively, for years if needed. There aren't many doctors who treat Lyme this way and apparently, they are under pressure from other doctors to conform. Patients online talking about Lyme will not even name doctors but call them by initials. It sounds unbelievable. One test that is supposed to be more accurate is the Igenix test. I ordered this test kit online and took it to my daughter's doctor. He had to order it for me. I am waiting for the results. This lab tests for more antibodies than most and is run by a lab which does only Lyme testing. Here is a list of Lyme symptoms. www.canlyme.com. Scroll down to see symptoms. Here is a website of Lyme patients discussions. www.lymenet.org Go to flash discussion. I don't really like this site but you can find a doctor who recognizes chronic Lyme there. Depending on where you are, you might have to travel. I am in Texas and will have to go to Missouri. I am pursuing this because my daughter has not been feeling well for a while, not really because of OCD. If it turns out to help her OCD, that will be even better. > > Very interesting.......my daughter was bitten by a deer tick when she was 3 > years old.
