Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Do any of you know of a good doctor you'd recommend to explore and address extremely slow growth in a child? This is yet another health issue we need to start addressing with my son. I suspect a hormonal imbalance to go along with his immune system imbalance... which makes me a bit further imbalanced (agh!). We could just ask the pediatrician for a referral but I thought I'd ask if any of you knew of a doc who was especially good with this problem. Best case, would be someone who was also knowledgeable about immune system problems to possibly tie it all together. Gaylen
Guest guest
What type of slow growth? Is the child's head not growing? Does the child " wring " his/her hands?

Pretty much all over. He's 13 but is the size of a typical small 8 year old. He also has only lost a few of his baby teeth. He's had other health issues that we've thought were causing this and they may still be but I want to be sure. He has significant dysregulation of his immune system and had metals toxicity from probably birth until a few years ago. << Is the child's head not growing?>> It is growing consistent with the rest of his body. Overall, the growth is just very delayed. <<Does the child " wring " his/her hands?>> I've never seen him do this. Is this a sign of a particular disorder other than Rhett's Syndrome? Guest guest
I was just wanting to rule out Rett's. The parents are probably the best source for finding M.D.'s. Good luck!
Guest guest
I am reluctant to suggest Dr. Kendal in Austin because my family has never been treated by him but I met a family that had their 7 year old high functioning autistic son treated by him. He was taking a human growth hormone and grew something like 3 inches in a short amount of time but I had only met him at the end of a recent growth spurt so I couldn't tell you how dramatic the growth had been. If you want to e-mail me off the list I can talk to you about contacting this family if you would like to know more about their personal experience. I haven't seen this family since June but back then their son was the tallest kid in my son's class.
