Ann....bless you!!! I have felt very alone here lately, in fact I

almost left the group a few days ago.....but you and Marta always

come through with encouraging words and thoughts! And Jo, thanks for

calling! The support I have gotten from you guys has really kept me

going through a really depressing time.

They fed me Lasix, and then in the morning Dr K put in a new drain

(not fun, but not painful!) and I am now home recovering yet again.

You are not going to believe this but I have not had one esophageal

spasm since THIS surgery! Maybe something during intubation the first

time caused it and this time around it fixed it! Who knows...but so

far I have taken horse size antibiotics, pain pills, ALL kinds of

pills and all without spasms! Thank You GOD!!! 16 days - no spasms -

thats a record!

I have some swelling above my incision and the serous fluid retention

(which is being fixed!), but no drainage, no leakage, no problems

with the surgical site at all - it is and has been healing

beautifully! Looks like big happy face (or a big ol' cowboys

mustache - depend on how ya' see things).

Again, thank you.....keep praying!! It ain't over yet!!!

Cindee (who is an angel in spite of what that mean nasty Jim says!!)

BTW - Our Salazar was at DRMC yesterday and she didn't even

recognize me (once she did we couldn't shut up!) But I got to see

Bobbe and Donna and met some new friends as well!

Hi Cindee,

I am so glad you are home and posting and feeling better...and WOW --

congratulations on losing the esophogeal spasms -- what a plus to the surgery!

Cindee,

Awwww, I'm sorry you've been feeling so down. Post-surgical

depression? I've had it so bad I was going to leave my church, dump

all my friends and move away. lol It will get better...I promise.

After my last surgery on August 28, I had to have a drain in until

the 3rd week of October!!! Talk about an inconvenience!! I'm sure

you won't have yours in that long at least. I had a pocket that

infected and they wouldn't take it out till it was putting out less

than 5CC per day!! My prayers are with you, Cindee.

Cindee, that's wonderful news!! I'm so happy for you! Prayers are

going out in your direction that this is a permanent change!

Tracey

P.S. I'm sorry you felt so alone a few days ago. I feel like that

a lot on this group, actually. I've just learned not to take it so

personally. Please know that even when I don't respond to your

posts (or anyone else's for that matter) that I am always thinking

about you and wanting good things for you!

Cindee, I'm so happy to hear this! How wonderful! I'm so glad you

haven't suffered with that awful pain for three weeks. Let's hope

it's permanent!

Actually, No......and I never questioned it.

Hmm....buyt that is good question for my next visit. I wonder if that

could have been a contributing factor in my serous fluid build-up,

not having that second set of drains.....

Virginia,

You can get small zip lock baggies called snack baggies with your regular zip

lok bags. If you want really small ones, try a craft store.

The first time all I felt was a " POP " and no pain at all, the second

time it was quite a bit more painful as Dr Z had to do a bit of

poking to find the pocket, the 3rd they just gave up and just put

another drain in (NOT fun when you are awake and can feel it).

This seroma is just at the very top of my incision, where they

repaired my umbilical hernia and down into the mons area, the last

was several inches higher. I think it is just much more frustrating

than painful.......though the pressure of the fluid pushing out on

the incision is making it painful and very sore to touch. Lying flat

you can't even see it, so Dee said they would probably have to locate

this seroma by ultrasound then drain it.

I am just whiny and tired and frustrated I suppose.....everytime I

think it is gone, another one develops! GRRRRRRRR!!!!

But I am trying to find the good in it....so far NONE of them have

become infected, and they drain easily, I am healing well, my

incision never drained or leaked or oozed, and it is already starting

to soften and feel like my normal tummy! The tightness is easing up

and walking straight hasn't ever been a problem. So I do have a lot

to be grateful for! I got a few new awesome outfits from a friend who

shops at Hot Topic and they are all smalls and a few mediums and they

FIT!!! Even my size 6 levi's fit perfect!

OK, Ok, I will try not to stress it......but if THIS is not the last

time I have to have one drained I am allowed to have one good

stomping, crying, hissy fit, agreed? This is the 4th time in 4 weeks

and I am damn tired already of needles and drains!

HUGS!!

OK so I guess I shouldn't tell you about my friend who had a tummy

tuck and had to have her Seroma drained every 2 weeks for five months

right? <grin>

No... we just wont talk about that ......

Hey... you have a flat tummy. This will all be a distant memory

soon enough!

Kristy...sometimes our typo's make me hold my side giggling...At

least (scratching head) I think you meant numb and not DUMB!

How is the training going for the marathon? Are you over the flu

yet?

Thanks for the giggle.

I gave up on figuring out my exact sizes! I know that a 36D fits

perfectly, but I can wear some size Small tops, mostly Mediums

though, my Lee jeans are 6's and so are my New York Jeans but the

little black dress I just bought is a 8 and it zips up and fits

perfectly!! I have a closet full of everything from 4's through 10's

and depending on the cut and style some fit and some NEED to be

tossed, (like all the 10's!!!) LOL, thats a project for another day!

Cindee

Uhoh, I can see Lee drooling.....

HEY, hang on woman, I have to get OUT of this size 8 dress before I

can send it on to ya!!!
