==>Yes Mike, the symptoms will diminish as you continue on the diet.

You are experiencing healing symptoms. Take very small amounts and

only increase them once every 4-5 days - very very gradually only!

Read all you can in the Healing Folder - it is really enlightening.

Also read information in the Allergies Folder.

Hang in there Mike. Things will improve.

As mentioned by somone else, I too use Nasonex whichis a prescription nasal

spray and helps a lot. I also use Saline Nasal Spray, over the counter med any

brand, in addition to the Nasonex 2-3 times a day sometimes. And that too

helps!!! Clara OR

I am having a hard time with allergies this year. As most of you know I

have Sjorgens and that makes me very dry.

Everytime I take allergy meds it makes the dryness extreme. I can't even

swallow and I feel like I have something in my throat all the time.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use to clear the sinuses

without these awful side affects?

My doc said to just suffer through but I find that a hard option to " swallow " .

Thanks for any help.

I asked my doc for nasonex or flonase and he said I didn't need it. He

also said that the salt water wouldn't do much good so was really a

waste of time because it would dry me out like everything else.

I think he is a jerk.lol

, I have done that salt-water thing; it works but was not pleasant. And

one time

I aspirated the junk and then had pnuemonia. I've taken Advil cold & sinus

without feeling noticably " dryer " .

When I did it, I was given a recipe that made a quart at a time (you could save

it for a week). It had salt that is used for pickling vs. table salt. You use a

syringe and flush it in one nostril and it comes out the other nostril. I really

hated it. And the, like I said, I aspirated it and ended up with pnemonia.

Joanne just sent out a bunch of other alternatives; I'd go with one of them.

Thanks for the info. I will try the peas and get some of the cough

syrup. Even after all these yrs. I still have trouble figuring out

meds. You'd think that agfter 10yrs. I'd know how to handle things but

my body keeps changing on me and stuff that used to work no longer do.

Thanks for everything

Sinus irrigation using a neti pot and normal saline solution. You can

also use a baby bulb syringe. I can give you more details if you need

them. It has really helped me avoid antihistamines and antibiotics. If

you do a Google search, look to see if there is any instructions that

include leaning upside down over a bathtub.

I have to do it upside down to prevent aspirating. But if you have

swallowing difficulty it might not be enough protection.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for the info. Does anyone else in your friend's family have the same

issues? Has your friend ever been given a reason as to why she has the

allergies or if something can be done like desensitizing? It's just so odd to

be allergic to so many things and with the CMT posts I thought, hmmm.....maybe

this is why. Thanks again for the info.

Carmella,

I want to weigh in on the allergy issue. Since childhood, I have had

allergies - seasonal and environmental, especially to molds, fungus,

hay, Bermuda grass, bees, and 100's more. Because of the mold

allergy, I am allergic to certain medications, and have to be

cautious about eating cheses, mushrooms, etc. Also during the

rains, I am affected. My allergies are limited to skin issues. I

clean with bleach which kills mold, and thank God my gym is spotless

and cleaned regularly too.

Over the course of my life I have had 3 or 4 'series' of long-term

injections to antibodies - at one time I received 2 shots a week for

2 years. But had no problems for years after :)

Another time I gave the injections to myself at home once a week for

about 4-5 years. Had no problems for years after.

While I am a gardener, I make sure I'm wearing my gloves, and

immediately on finishing, I bathe in warm water and baking soda,

which can prevent any allergic reaction from occuring. I can't do

much about the bees, lol, they love my Jasmine, and so do I. When

there are too many of them around, I go inside. A bee sting has been

known to put me out of breath, fortunately that hasn't happened in

years. It almost seems like the more attention I have paid to my

allergies, the more control over them I got. And yes, I had ALL the

tests, on my arms, back, etc., for everything, even foods. Also did

the 'food elimination diet' to understand food groups and find

any 'hidden' causes.

My allergists were some of the best doctors I ever had. Desensitation worked

wonders, and speaking from my intuition, I feel I have outgrown some of my

allergies.

Having allergies (to anything) can happen to anyone, with or without CMT. Just

having CMT doesn't mean we are immune to anything else.

If you're concerned about your bed, vacuum your mattress thoroughly (turn it over while you're at it), then launder your mattress pad as well as pillows and comforters. If you've never vacuumed your mattress before, empty your vacuum first . .. you'll be amazed at the stuff that comes out! Pollen is covering everything here with a layer of yellow. . . I was enjoying sleeping with the windows open . . but not now. . .AC is on again! Eating locally grown honey is supposed to help with local allergies . .. If you can handle sugar. . .It's not a option for me. . . Hubby has been eating some though and seems to be doing better this year than usual. Rogene
