Guest guest
Hi , Just want you to know I'm thinking of you, and hoping you are going to be okay. I'm sorry friend...but, I am unable to answer your question. I have to temporarily up the roids also...little Chostochondritis acting up again. Seems like the dragon never gets off our back doesn't it? Well..okay.in my case... rhuemy did say "I'm quite certain the Stills has burned itself out, your problems with ankles etc. is due to *damage* from the disease." For those of you who haven't had the disease for many, many years like I have tho, the newer meds should protect you from destruction years down the road. For the most part....I really do feel that the "dragon" has burned itself out with me. See...you got to say how much you hate this "thing" at least a million times a year. Save your breath..it doesn't help. , please let us know what your rhuemy says about this...okay? Guest guest
Yep, I had that same fluid around the heard problem too. And some fluid in the lungs too I guess. I would suggest not putting things off, especially if you get some tightness feeling in the chest or shortness of breath. I think it is easier to kick in the butt if you treat this soon enough, and not do like I did and just try to tough it out. I almost croaked off on them in the ER and in intensive care. Guest guest
Thank You Marilynn,it does an awful lot like Percardis,im geussing I have already done just that increasing the pred,I did have percardis at onset.Did sum research myself acually if it gets bad they can either insert a needle and drain some fluid(or more drastic in an operation to acually remove the percadium Which is the sac which surrounds the heart hope doesnt get that drastic though).Just as with pleural effusion which restricts the breathing(of course i also had this at onset also)I think the paricardis effusion is same if it gets bad enough it can restrict bloodflow within the heart and cause problems.Anyhow Imformation was faxed over to my rhumy, but I also supposed cantact him tommorrow take care. d.Canada Paricardial Effusion Hi , sorry to hear of your condition with Pericardial Effusion. Hope you feel much better soon. Is there anything they can do for it or does a tube need to be inserted to drain out the excess fluid built up? Here is a bit of info I found on it just in case you were interested. Marilyn ____________________________________________________________________ Background: Pericardial effusion defines the presence of an abnormal amount and/or character of fluid in the pericardial space. It can be caused by a variety of local and systemic disorders, or it may be idiopathic. Pericardial effusions can be acute or chronic, and the time course of development has a great impact on the patient’s symptoms. Treatment varies, and is directed at both removal of the pericardial fluid and alleviation of the underlying cause, which usually is determined by a combination of fluid analysis and correlation with comorbid illnesses. Pathophysiology: The pericardial space normally contains 15-50 cc of fluid, which serves as lubrication for the visceral and parietal layers of the pericardium. This fluid is thought to originate from the visceral pericardium and is essentially an ultrafiltrate of plasma. Total protein levels are generally low; however, the concentration of albumin is increased in pericardial fluids owing to its low molecular weight. The cause of abnormal fluid production depends on the underlying etiology, but usually it is secondary to injury or insult to the pericardium (ie, pericarditis). Transudative fluids result from obstruction of fluid drainage, which occurs through lymphatic channels. Exudative fluids occur secondary to inflammatory, infectious, malignant, or autoimmune processes within the pericardium. Clinical manifestations of pericardial effusion are highly dependent upon the rate of accumulation of fluid in the pericardial sac. Rapid accumulation of pericardial fluid may cause elevated intrapericardial pressures with as little as 80 cc of fluid, while slowly progressing effusions can grow to 2 liters without symptoms. ___________________________________________________________________ ----Original Message Follows---- From: Docken Got phone call today from the Medical Center where I had my chest X-Ray done when I was havin those problems before well the source has raised its ugly head.Quik qeustion she said i had Paricardial Effusion is that the same as pericardis(sac of fluid around the heart)told her i have felt better since but I have noticed weird fluttering from my heart last few days.Anyways im supposed call my rhumy tommorow and let him know(geuss i might have to have a echiocardiogram(sp).I know percardis is common with Stills scary stuff hope my rhumy will know what to do probally same as usual increase the pred some more bummer ohh well find out tom i geuss take care. d.Canada MSN 8 helps ELIMINATE E-MAIL VIRUSES. Guest guest
Hi I had to go on beta blockers for a while when I had ectopic heart beats - missed beats - and they really helped. I took them for about 6 months, but stopped when the doc was going to do a 24 hour tape. Now they only happen in the evening and when I'm stressed and I don't need medication at the moment. Hope you get it sorted quickly.
