Are they going to give AEDs (anti-epilepsy drugs) to your grandson? If so, be sure to do your research. They are all toxic. I was told my son was having absence seizures too, put him on Trileptal and lost him completely for a while. Missed a few months of school due to completely zoned out.

I switched him to Lamictil and he did better, but has been best since I weaned him off all AEDs last June. You may want to join epilepsy treatment. They discuss lots of less invasive biomed / natural means for seizure control.

Seizures could be due to an alleragic reaction to something, most likely food. Take a good look at his environment / diet.

They looked like, "behavior cousins". I'm a grandmother who belives in biomedical intervention, but my family is very leery about it. It has been a long uphill struggle trying to convince them that play therapy was all that he needed. To make matters worst, they now go to three doctors who disagree with each other and their DAN is snotty and rude. So, if I am to introduce Valtrex to the mix, I have to understand as much as possible about it way before I start talking. I have read as many of the posts here as possible, but I'm really more confused than ever. I know that Valtrex has something to do with adenosine levels, viral levels and it's used for herpes, but that's about it. Last week an eeg showed my dgs having 100+ absense seizures a day. We're all pretty terrified by this. Do you know if there is a link between adenosine levels and seizures? Were your son's, "mini's", absence? Would you please either give me a cliff notes overview of Valtrex, or point me in the direction where I can find it? I so apreciate your generosity with all of us still trying to tread water. Thanks : )
