Guest guest
Thank you to all those who responded to my question regarding organic meats and mercury free fish(not sure if there's such a thing!) I really appreciate you all. There's a new " little issue " brewing in my district regarding early dismissal. Ben is working with a wonderful therapist this year (started this summer) and the only way she can continue to work with him throughout the school year is to pull him out a couple of times a week for early dismissal. I know this has been done in our district and, in fact, two kids in Ben's own class have done this in the past themselves. Of course, now that I'M asking to do this for the first time--it's a problem!! The kind of feedback that I'm getting from administration is that there are so many hours of special ed time that the teacher is required to provide for each child and to remove the child on a regular basis for anything other than medical reasons cannot be done...blah, blah, blah, blah(I may have left out a " blah " --not sure) Have any of you had experience with this type of thing? Are you pulling your kids out for therapies, etc. without any problems? If anyone has any advice for me I'd surely appreciate it!!(Sorry I'm so " needy " lately with all my questions!) Believe me--I do not like having to have him pulled out of class on a regular basis but what he does with this therapist is better than anything he does in school. There are good aspects of his school program too so I wouldn't want to homeschool either--also his therapist cannot give me those kinds of hours either. Any help or suggestions is appreciated! a
Guest guest
a, Although not for this reason, at one time we had our neurologist write a prescription for ABA -- simply stating that ABA intervention therapy is a needed treatment for the child. It seems to me that this would then make the ABA pull-out a medical treatment, so it falls under the pull-out criteria the school has already established. SJM thank you AND a new question regarding early dismissals Thank you to all those who responded to my question regarding organic meats and mercury free fish(not sure if there's such a thing!)
