Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Stan, I was hoping you could help me as you have so much knowledge regarding supplements, nasal B12, and your experience with ADHD. I would appreciate any thoughts from others familiar with the above as well. My daughter is showing signs of regression and I am trying to determine the best course of action to take. A bit of history, she was diagnosised with ADHD about 2 years ago and this manifest itself as becoming easily distracted, sensory sensitive trouble with working memory, slow processing speed, and difficulty with word retrieval. She is active but it is usually not a problem for her at school. We began a protocol with a DAN doc which included valtrex for 8 months, chelation for one year.Supplements the entire time. AT the end of the year she took a provoked test and revealed much improvement (much lower levels of the metals.) after taking a neurotransmitter test last summer we began her on a combination amino acid neuro transmitter support called Travecor. 3 capsules of Travecor consists of B6 25 mg,, folic acid 200 mg, vitamin c 40 mg, magnesium 200mg, B12 30 mg, zinc 10 mg, selenomethionine 70 mg, and 1400 mg of amino select proprietary blend which consised of L-laurine, N-acelylcysteine. 5 htp, L-theanine. The Travecor seemed helpful at first and it did calm her but it was not enough at school. Also, I noticed after a few weeks on the Travecor she became more spacy and really struggled with memory. So I would reduce Travecor dosage. We then began her on B12 which I thought helped but we had some difficulty figuring out the dosage because it could provoke hyperactivity and allergies. We dosed at 1 spray each nostril every other day. I used the Travecor to assist in calming the hyperactivity while on the B12. and had reduced Travecor to 1/2 capsule a day I also gave her a multivitamin which included all of the B vitamins. She progressed for about a month 6 weeks and then Progress stopped and in memory she regressed a little. she was continuosly complaining of stomach aches and having allergies so we decided to stop everything for a period of 40days and add back one at a time to determine what might be adding to her memory issues and stomach aches. We did some urine tests and found she had clostridia, Thankfully her yeast count was low so we are treating her for clostridia hoping that will take care of the stomach. I have not heard her complain in a few days of the stomach. We have not added the Travecor back but we have added the nasal B!12 , and most everything else.(she has taken the B12b twice, again we are dosing every other day) She still seems to be in a regressed state and has either developed a cold or is suffering from heightened allergies again. She is highly frustrated and emotional. While I believe some of the amino acids were helpful some seemed to add to the problem. I am sorry for the length of this message but I am hoping someone with knowledge re: both supplements, amino acids etc can help me determine what to try next to end this regression period. My DAN is trying to help but has become quite overloaded with patients and really has no other answers other than trial and error right now. Many thanks for the suppor of this web group. Quote
