Guest guest
Hello! I've never dealt with low Alk Phos, but I can tell you that it is a liver enzyme. It usually has high points when they're going through growth spurts. I would be concerned about it being low at a point where he is probably growing a lot. The doctor has had nothing to say about this? I would definitely call his regular doctor and ask about it. Good Luck! -- [sPAM] Teen issues Hello Everyone, I have been a member of this group for awhile and have learned alot by reading about other's experiences. I have a 15 year old boy with CVID he's been on ivig for 2 1/2 years and Sub-Q for 6 months. His igg levels are good and stable but he is still having so many chronic issues and I feel we are getting no help from his immunologist. He has frequent migraines-almost always in the early morning(8-10/month), freqent viral illnesses (10 since 09/07) and periods of vomiting usually 3-4 hours with no apparent cause, he also is fatigued almost as much as he was before IVIG. The only thing that has shown to be off in his bloodwork is Alkaline Phosphatase Serum. His is 118 and normal is 180-540. Sometimes his White blood cell count is low, but not too low - around 3.5 - 3.8. The only thing I can find about Alkaline Phosphatase is that it's not unusual for teens to have high levels which is the opposite of what he has. I'm desperate for any ideas or suggestions. One more thing-he's very active, plays high school and competitive basketball. We have tried to improve his diet, cut caffeine and sugar and make sure he gets enough sleep (which is difficult).
