Guest guest
Ok, I went to GNC today cause I was out of my Myoplex Lite bars. The only kind I like are the Raspberry Frost - the rest taste like metal to me. So, I happened to mention this to the rather handsome man behind the counter. He agrees, and tells me about these other bars that are similar, but have texture - TEXTURE? Wow...I gotta try that. They are Zone Bars (Barry Sears, et. al) with comparable calories, a bit more fat, and a lot more vitamins, than the Myoplex. They were fantastic! CRUNCHY! I bought a box of the Strawberry Yogurt. Just thought I'd share. a "Confidence is courage at ease" -- Maher
Guest guest
I tend to think the Zone diet has a lot going for it, actually. Certainly some resources outside of BFL can be used for BFL. For example, Hussman suggests cutting back a bit on the carbs in order to emphasize fat loss, so what I might do is have an Atkins diet shake for the last meal of the day (or perhaps a double scoop of protein powder [310 calories] with 2 cups water). Guest guest
Actually, I think the zone way of eating and the BFL way are pretty much the same. With the sone it helps you understand scientifically what occurs within your body and how important it is to complement protein with the right kind of carbs and fats for health and fat burning. It's good to hear other peoples views on the zone. I like it. Guest guest
A lot of times at work, I'll have some type of hi-protein, low carb bar (or portion of it) and a 1/2 bagel, piece of fruit, yougurt, etc. This way, I'm assured of getting equal cards/protein and still get to eat real food. I just found a high-protein, low-carb pre-mixed drink at Wally world. So, I'll see how that tastes. That can replace the bars. I try to avoid EAS bars as they have a high sugar content (per the label). My favorite bar is called the " Better Bar " . It's pretty equal in carbs/protein and is very yummy. it even has bits of Pecans in the pecan ones. (It's also pretty low in fat, so it's legal<g>). I get these at GNC and would highly recommend them to anyone that wants a decent, balanced bar. There are a lot of bars out there which overload on carbs, and I'm trying to lose fat and weight, so I lean toward more protein like Hussman recommends. Both the Simply Protein and Low Carb Myoplex bars are pretty low in sugar, in the neighborhood of 3 grams, IIRC. Tina
Guest guest
Yeah, you're right, Pamela. In BFL, the ratio of protein:carbs:fat is 40:40:20, while in the Zone it's 30:40:30. I often hear people call the Zone a " high-protein, low-carb diet, " but it's not! Cheers, Andy > Actually, I think the zone way of eating and the BFL way are pretty much the > same.
