Guest guest
I have started treating with NF an 11 year old girl with ADHD symptoms (impulsive, very talkative, short tempered, impatient). Her QEEG reviled very high alpha all over with eyes closed only. And also, high T/B ratio ,cz. Frontal ratio theta/alpha EC is about 1, EO- 4. Frontally, EO, alpha is rather low, theta and T/B ratio are high (about 4). It seems she is an alpha type ADHD. Should I train alpha down with eyes closed? Or rather concentrate on T/B EO? appreciate your comments Nurit
Guest guest
Nurit,The alpha is fine with EC in the front (theta and alpha should be about equal) and dominated by theta with eyes open. No need to train it down. Alpha type attention problems are related to alpha with eyes open or at task. Be aware that (hopefully the use of normative databases took care of this) alpha can be much slower than 8-12 in a child.Sounds like a pretty straightforward case of using HEG to improve prefrontal (control) functions and central strip SMR training (you'll have to find the correct frequency for SMR) at C3/C4, Cz/A2 or C4/A2. You might also try some theta down/beta up after a little while at FCz/CPz bipolar or at Cz/a1 or C3/A1.Pete-- Van Deusenpvdtlc@...http://www.brain-trainer.com USA 305 433 3160BR 47 3346 6235The Learning Curve, Inc. Guest guest
Pete, when you say " Sounds like a pretty straightforward case of using HEG to improve prefrontal (control) functions " - could describe the locations you would train with HEG or would you just train PF1, PFz and PF2? Thanks!
Guest guest
,If you are using nIR, I usually train left edge of the forehead, right edge of the forehead and center. I've learned NOT to go around the corner onto the temples (had several cases of dizziness, including myself) and mild depression when I tried that). I do them in different order, since the first place to train usually responds most strongly. If you are using pIR, then you would do Fpz for the whole session.Pete-- Van Deusenpvdtlc@...http://www.brain-trainer.com USA 305 433 3160BR 47 3346 6235The Learning Curve, Inc. Guest guest
Thank you Pete. Your answers are always helpful. I do have pir-HEG' and I will use it to train the girl. I wonder how can I findout what is the corect frequency of the SMR for this particular girl. Guest guest
Pete -- I am also working with a six year old who is so fidgety! I am going to try some HEG -- any particular way you would begin HEG. He has high EO alpha and low SMR (I adjusted for his age). Thanks -- > > On Sat, Jul 23, 2011 at 4:09 PM, pvdtlc <pvdtlc@...> wrote: > > > ** > > > > > > Nurit, > > > > The alpha is fine with EC in the front (theta and alpha should be about > > equal) and dominated by theta with eyes open.
