Guest guest
"why is the swine flu so deadly. For those of us who are anal about our health and bodies.. and went to the doc almost immediately after feeling.. sick, wouldn't they be able to help with this?? is it just deadly for those who ignore the symptoms or who don't have access to health care??"Influenza is actually a very dangerous illness. While most survive with a miserable 10-14 days, in those that require hospitalization, the mortality is quite high. I don't remember the figures exactly, but I think it is around 40%."Swine Flu" is a misnomer, but the press likes the sound of it. It is just another strain of flu with features of porcine and avian strains, as well has human strains. What makes it potentially more dangerous is the H1N1 receptor, which allows it to infect more cells and do more damage.JB
