There are many different home care companies that provide SCIG services....some

offer more benefits then others.

We went straight to SCIG....we did daily infusions for 3 days then went to

weekly. Typically an IVIG pt will recieve their IVIG dose, then the following

week recieve 1/4 of that dose SQ...then go weekly from there.

Some companies send nurses to train you, others I have heard only send a

DVD...Some physicians state you can push the meds, others use a syringe pump.

There is only one product that has current FDA approval for sc use, but many

other products are utilized " off label " so to speak.

Is your physician supportive, what about your insurance company. Some home care

companies will get all the authorizations that you need, etc.

SCIG has been a wonderful experience for us....but we were well prepared for the

procedure.

The Immune Deficiency Foundation may be able to help you identify home care

companies in your area to assist you in the process. At the IDF conference

there were a few companies represented there.

I would go to www.primaryimmune.org and contact them.

Hope that helps...

YEAH!!!!! Yes, Katy found that she was much more energetic -- but we

didn't notice that for a couple of months. Then she realized that she

was had a lot more energy than she had had on IVIG.

Aren't you glad you fought for sub-Q!!!!

In His service,

It is amazing the difference SubQ has made in my son. We went from a 8

hour IV to SubQ. Not only does he have more energy, but his IgG levels

are higher than ever. He is now at 961. He is in PE now at school, and

holds his own with all of the other kids all of the time, not just

after an infusion. Also, something I didn't think about, no longer

feels like he is " sick. " He told me that he is not afraid that he is

dying now because he is not always at the hospital. That is a lot for a

11 year old boy to express on his own.
