Guest guest
I just thought Id share this with you guys, though you all are probably way ahead of me here. Two of my kids iwth CVID, Savannah and Brennan, have sensory processing disorder. Savannah, esp, is extremely tactile defensive, and actually has anxiety attacks regarding tegaderm, and thigns like that. she cant handle her IV w/o Emla, but the stickiness of the covering makes her crazy. Brennan, no longer uses the cream or tegaderm, bc he would rather take the needle as is then feel the awful stickiness of Emla or the covering. Last infusion day, our nurse was excited beyond belief to haul Savannah in for the emla........she had gotten Glad Press and Seal wrap to put over her cream......Anxious as always, savannah was cautious, but actually told us she couldnt feel it at all, even when it came off, she was prepared for the pain, but said she couldnt feel it at all. So, it really went way better than usual. I had told my friend about this, as she has a 4 yr old with ALL. She said, oh yeah, the oncology nurses have been doing this for a few months, with patients who have issues with the stickiness. Esp for sensitive skin, it doesnt pull/tug or leave red marks. so I just thought Id pass that along, hoping some of you could use that!! Guest guest
Thanks! My 9 yr old would also rather not use Emla b/c of the Tegaderm. He cannot stand having the Tegaderm removed. I will try the Glad Press and Stick. Thanks so much for sharing.
