I am at wit's end with her...she's 6 a twin and driving me insane...she has horrible tantrums, throws things, beats up on her twins sister and I also have my 3 year old daughter who does have Autism and every thing that goes with it...I am almost to the point of calling someone for help...I just don't know what to do..with no family here for help, I don't know what to do...she is in her room screaming because I won't let her watch High School Musical 2 because she physically attacked her twin, pulling hair and scratching her drawing blood for no reason at all...everyday I go through this with her, and the school tells me she does this there as well...help __________________________________________________

I would look into why she is having all of this aggression see if there is a medical /mental health reason she is doing this . Look into counseling for her maybe there is something bothering her.If you can try to set up a behavior plan .Another thing you can do is talk to your dr that takes care of your child with autism see if he can recommend wrap around at home( family services aspect ) they will have the child with autism as the designated child but they work with the whole family and they can help you find ways to help you with her.see if you can find a support group in your area where you can attend and taalk to other parents going through the same issues as you are Vickie WwW.SparkleTags.Com----- Original Message ----From: kelly dawson <kelly_dawson75@...>autism_in_girls ; Autism and Aspergers Treatment ; texas-autism-advocacy Sent: Sunday, November 11, 2007 1:05:51 PMSubject: My daughter who doesn't have

My oldest is 13 and has Asperger's. Both his younger sister and brother are "typical". Over the years, my son used to have similiar outbursts involving my daughter who is close in age to him.

In addition to the suggestions below, which are very good, it is important that you have one on one time on a regular basis with you daugher who is not on the spectrum. She needs to know that she gets her fair share of attention and it also gives her the opportunity to express her fears and concerns. This also gives you a chance to reinforce that you will do everything in your power to work to avoid these things in the future, but that she should come to you immediately if she needs help. Taking the other child physically to another room also tends to deescalate the twin.

Finally, you should absolutely seek out respite care. Most communities have services for allowing you a break from a very tough and challenging situation with your kids. That is imperative with two kids on the spectrum.

Hope this helps.

hello,

I have 5 soon to be 6 children. I also have a 6 year old daughter .my 5 year old son has autism. the 6 year old is the only girl. we deal with her temper and attitude A LOT! we are thinking her issues are that she is jealous. Isaac gets comforted when he's having a fit and she gets discipline ( when needed... as does Isaac)

she just seems to buck the system. truly always has. I totally understand the wits end feeling however. me too, only we don't have family close by and we homeschool and do not feel right in placing her ( the 6 year old NT) in public school) that's a whole other story!

I'll pray for you because I do understand the loneliness and the struggles of balancing a child with autism and several nt children.

HUGS!

hugs to you for dealing with so difficult a situation.  Where are you located? is there a support group for autism that perhaps you can get some support and references for a behavior therapist or respite care? it sound like she has some issues and maybe should be evaluated.hthGretaOn Nov 11, 2007, at 1:05 PM, kelly dawson wrote:I am at wit's end with her...she's 6 a twin and driving me insane...she has horrible tantrums, throws things, beats up on her twins sister and I also have my 3 year old daughter who does have Autism and every thing that goes with it...I am almost to the point of calling someone for help...I just don't know what to do..with no family here for help, I don't know what to do...she is in her room screaming because I won't let her watch High School Musical 2 because she physically attacked her twin, pulling hair and scratching her drawing blood for no reason at all...everyday I go through this with her, and the school tells me she does this there as well...help

I would ask your pediatrician to get her tested for behavioural problems, or aspergers etc.....everything and anything until you find out why this is happening.

Its possible she is somewhere on the spectrum too.
