Brought J to the ped this afternoon b/c he has had a cough and sinus

infection symptoms for a long time. He got sick after VBS and have never

" recovered " .before he left for VJGC, the ped put him on antibiotics for a

sinus infection... He seemed to be " okay " but when we picked him up, he

still had a slight cough and it started getting worse at night. Of course

his always present eye pain gets even worse when he has a sinus infection.

He has the eye pain worse and his cheeks, etc around his eye hurt. So,

we'll try Augmentin 1000 for him. His sinuses and nasal passages looked

" nasty " as she described it-his poor little sinuses swell shut. nothing

comes out his nose. he gets the bad drainage at night.

I brought her the report from the optometrist and we talked at length. She

is making an appointment with the Ophthalmologist at the Children's

hospital-the same one J saw when he was little. She gave us some

prescription drops for his eyes.. She thinks that after two days on the

tears, the corneal inflammation should be better if they were working. She

thinks there may be an allergy component..and even though the Patanol did

not work, she thinks these other drops will (I'll give you the name later,

if interested. is filling scripts now)

She wants me to ask other SDS parents and folks about the eye issues-to see

if anyone else has enlarged optic nerves. It could be normal for him, but

she is just wondering b/c of J having neurological issues and S having the

migraines.. Wonders if there isn't something to it-another reason she wants

us to see the doc at the children's hospital.

We have to see him to be sure the keratitis gets better... the hem was

thinking it could be some sort of conjuctival keratitis issue, the ped

checked him for that and it isn't the cause. it has a name, but my brain is

fried and if he doesn't have it, who cares what it is called, KWIM!?

So, looks like we have one more specialist to visit in September. Yippy

Skippy. Can you feel the excitement?

Peace Be With You,
