Guest guest
Good for you doing something even though you didn't feel like it! That is the key to consistency and making your dreams reality! Today's exercise Today was back to work after 5 days off. It is not a physically tiring job, I just sit at a computer all day, but it is very mentally stressing and I just can't wait until the day ends. Today I didn't feel like working out but since I really want to get this fat off of me I decided that I had better do at least a little something. I decided to go with something easy and did Kathy March to Fitness. It was a little different from and it was pretty fun. I'm very glad now that I did it. I always feel better afterwards. Have a great evening everyone and I will come chat again soon. in CA No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 8.5.425 / Virus Database: 270.14.62/2499 - Release Date: 11/12/09 14:33:
Guest guest
Today a new to me DVD arrived that I had ordered from ebay. It is called Kathy Lift Weights to Lose Weight. I don't have the exact weights that I needed so I had to make do with what I had. I also need to get me a cheap bench somewhere but I was able to make do with what I had available. I have not done any weights at all so this was my first time. This DVD has two workouts on it, an upper body, a lower body and actually it also has a bonus ab workout that I did not do. I really like it, although I can already tell that I am really going to be hurting tomorrow, maybe tomorrow I will just walk or gazelle or something easy. I will definitely do this one often, the good thing is that I can always just use heavier weights as I improve. I am going to put some dumbbells and other fitness items on my Christmas list and leave it where everyone can see it. I hope everyone is doing well today. in CA No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
You know dumbbells are kind of like a toiletry. You just HAVE to have them! I vote buy them yourself if you can swing it... You're worth the money A step bench works great for a " bench " as well. And it serves a double-purpose if you get into step videos Great work !DarcyOn Sat, Nov 14, 2009 at 8:31 PM, Navarro <navarrosarah@...> wrote: Today a new to me DVD arrived that I had ordered from ebay. Guest guest
I actually have a step and I tried to use it but it was too short for the thingys where you put your knee and hand on the bench and lower the weights down and pull it back up again. I actually went and dug the step out of the garage where it has been hiding for a few years. I am thinking about doing some step videos coming up this week, I have about 8 or 9 of them from back in the day. I think you are right about the dumbbells, I will probably just buy them myself as fitness equipment is kind of a personal thing and if I leave it up to my family to buy it, who knows what I would end up with. Guest guest
Okay, gotcha... maybe you have a smaller step, and not the regular " club step " ? There's another version that is longer. I am guessing you have the shorter one. However, if you have enough risers, or even a chair would work, you could modify that particular workout by just hinging at your hips to where your back is at a 90 degree angle. Put one hand on the chair for support, and then row away You will get the same affect this way, as compared to, w/ one knee and one hand on the step. Hope I'm making sense....... Guest guest
Yes, that does make sense. I will try that. Thanks for the tip. I am guessing that my oldies 90's step is out of date, but lucky for me so are my videos. When I get myself in shape a little more, maybe I will buy a newer one, I think the Cathe high step DVD's require the higher one, is that correct? Ahh, someday I will get there. I am learning a lot here from everyone. in CA Re: Today's exercise Okay, gotcha... maybe you have a smaller step, and not the regular "club step"? There's another version that is longer. Guest guest
I LOVE that DVD! I do the workouts separately sometimes and sometimes all together as a full body workout. I haven't done it in a long time but am looking forward to trying it again, probably in January. I don't have a bench either, I use a chair and it works just great. I've been slowly purchasing dumbbells over the last couple of years. I love having a wide assortment. I've gotten into weighted balls lately too and have picked up quite a few of those. You can find smaller (2-8 or 10 lbs) dumbbells really cheap at garage sales and thrift shops. If you have a Play It Again Sports store anywhere near you can also find them for less money there. Guest guest
I had 2 steps for a long time. A shorter one that is still sold and the club size step. The shorter one is less expensive so it was marketed as a "home" version. I sold mine earlier this year and just kept my big one. I got both at garage sales for cheap! Your step probably only came with 2 sets of risers. The high step, which is smaller, is the equivalent of, I think at least 4 sets of risers under it. I don't have one, but use my Fanny Lifter from The FIRM (and gifted to me by another Sara who has been absent from this list lately) for it. I did try using my small step with 4 sets of risers (I picked up 2 extra sets at a thrift shop) but it didn't seem stable enough.
