Wed - Step! :)

Hi,

I actually did a STEP workout today - it has been about a year since I did step. It went okay from the perspective of my back - in other words, my back didn't seem any worse for doing it! I did an easier/shorter workout - Cathe's Basic Step & Body Fusion (Just did the step portion). The step portion is only around 20 minutes long and the pace isn't too fast and choreography is pretty tame for Cathe. All in all, it was a good one for giving step a try. I was going to do her Low Impact Step - but that looked a bit more choreographed for someone who has been out of the step loop for a year. Since the cardio on this was so short, I added on 2 miles on the treadmill (got that done in about 25 minutes or so - short warm-up and cool-down were included). I sweated more on the TM than with Cathe! :)

After all that I did one of the episodes from the 2007 Classical Stretch DVD.

I'm not sure what is up for tomorrow. I'm thinking strength - but it all depends on how my back is feeling. I may do Jari's Ripped (since everyone is doing Ripped this month!) or I may do some of the weight sections from the Cathe workout I did today (I think there is upper/lower body w/ tubing and weights and a stability ball routine for abs) OR it may end up being a Pilates/Classical Stretch day. My right hip/SI joint is acting up - step didn't make it any worse today - but it didn't make it better either. So I'll have to see how it goes for tomorrow. Went to the chiro today and he adjusted my SI Joint, so hopefully all will even out! :)

Oh - I forgot to add that I did some of the movement prep and prehab exercises from the Core Performance book today. I do like a lot of the exercises - the movement prep makes a nice warm-up and the prehab exercises are pretty good - a lot of them address my upper back/shoulder/posture and there are a couple of good ones for the hip as well. I also always do the planks/side planks.

Take care,

Donna

Yay, Donna! It will be interesting to hear how your back feels tomorrow from

the change in workouts! Did doing step again feel like you were coming home?

Were the Classical Stretch 2007 series worth the $ do you think?

I'm with you Donna, I tend to get injured (I know you're all shocked) when I get

fast and loose with some of the high intensity high complex workouts a la Cathe.

It doesn't stop me from trying once in a while. But truthfully I can modify up a

low intensity workout and get about the same calorie burn because I'm able to

consistently keep moving. Not pause and try to figure out how to catch up with

the video...or stop the workout altogether because I get frustrated.

a

Who is torturing herself with Turbo Kick music. The body wants to move!!
