Hey Deb and Suzie - I made it for the biopsy, but I had the worst time I have ever had at a hospital. I arrived at 9:00, everything was going on time, I got changed, the nurse was really nice, and got my iv in pretty easy.

I went in and new exactly what to expect, but never in a million years was I ready for the PAIN I ENDURED.... Oh my God - I really thought I was going to die, and very painful death at that. He got the shots in to numb the area - no problem, however when he took the first biopsy - I was literally screaming. I felt this pain rush across my tummy and then down through my lower abdomen - AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN PAIN IN STOMACH THROUGH TO MY BACK AND UP IN TO MY SHOULDER BLADES - JUST LIKE THE PAIN YOU HAVE WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD GALLBLADER ATTACK. The shot me full of versed and fetinal quickly and he did a second biopsy. I was loosing it, the medication was touching the pain, so they add another 100 mgs of fentinal. And that wasn't working. I thought I was one out of the 1000 that rupture and bleed to death, my stomach was swelling and getting hard. I was having a hard time breathing as it felt like I had just eaten 5 turkey dinners.

Nonetheless, it wasn't that thank-God, we think he hit one of those blood pockets that was seen on my liver a couple of weeks ago or less, and the blood filled around my other organs and around my diaphragm and I was in terrible pain. They me over 500 milligrams of fentinal. I could barely walk when I left, he wanted to keep me but wouldn't stay. I came home and took my morphine and gradually it has gotten better.

It was horrible Ladies, that is all I got to say, the worse of my life for a long time. Sure Glad it's over with.

So tell me how is everyone? Is it true Del is in the hospital? Do you have a number for him. Gosh I feel so terrible for him.

Does anyone know what hospital he is in ?

Love, hugs and prayers to you all

May God Bless

Maire ..

My goodness girl, I never heard of anyone having that kind of pain from a biopsy!! Mine didn't hurt, they just didn't work the way they were supposed to. I'm sorry you had such a bad time but now you & your doctors know - next time Will be better (if there is a next time) When will you get the results ? Took about 10 days for mine. Bayla says Del is in the hospital but she didn't say which hospital or why they admitted him. She should have his number if he has one. I'm keeping him on my positive vibe list, he's a sweetie. Hi ,

Please be VERY careful and mindful of your condition right now. I have had 2 Bx's and the first one the Jerk hit my gallbladder and it went gangrenous and 6 weeks later I collapsed on the street. I had to have emergency surgery with a week in hospital after draining my abdomen.

Don't be shy about a follow-up visit, please.

Gail,

Thanks for responding. Yeah, they tore me up yesterday, I don't know what they did, I am still suffering today, not as bad. When I had the first surgery, the Doctor had me lay on my left side to do the procedure - this Doctor, however, had me lie on my back and went in real close to my stomach, and when I came out, they never even told me to lay on my right side or to put pressure on it - nothing. Of course the whole time I was moaning, (loudly), I might add, and all they were doing was shooting up with fontenal, and finally they did a cat scan and showed a little blood, but he said not enough to put me in this kind of pain. And something else that is really strange, I have had sharp cramping pains, like ulcer toward the top of my stomach that goes through to My back, and lower sharp cramping pains that make me have diarrhea - I know I have gone 20 times since last night. So I don't know if he hit a part of my stomach, or just the blood pockets in my liver - whatever the heck those are? But my last biopsy was a cake walk - compared to this one.

As far as Del, I know what you mean about his messages, I was having a hard time understanding him, I had talked with him before that and he was fine.

What is going on now - does anyone know?

Why did they put him in the hospital.

Well Dear I have so more mail to get returned and can't sit up too long.

Thanks so much for all your support.

Much love, hugs and prayers

Marie

Jes girl I am so sorry you went through that pain. With me they just hit the nerve and I suffer for four hours after the biopsy while I am laying on my side.It could be the mono made the possess a little worse also.I don't think they should have been doing anything on you until that was cleared up.God you are such a great girl and I am tellin ya girl you are staying in my prayers.I don't know what is wrong with Del,but I know before he went in his posts were getting long and kinda strange.I found them hard to understand so whatever is wrong I think it was affecting his train of thought.

Deb - thanks for the update on Del, I am so sad to hear that he had to go back to the hospital - poor Guy, if you talk to Bayla - tell her to send Del our hugs and prayers.

As far the biopsy goes - the first time it was given with me laying on my left side - therefor it was given in my right side. This time it was on top of my tummy with me on my back. And your right about the shoulder pain, I have it in the right and the left. I still think it was gas or air, because I started having severe diarrhea last night, and when I would to the bathroom, I would have to push real hard for the air to come out. It was as if it was trapped inside my tummy, from top to bottom I was swollen, still am, not as bad though. And all night long, I kept running to the bathroom, felt like I needed to pass gas, sometimes I would and sometimes I got scared to push to hard because I was afraid to push too hard because of my liver - I didn't know if I could cause it to start bleeding or not?

Anyway, I feel a little better today, still the diarrhea, but not as much, still feel like I have eaten 4 thanksgiving meals, and still feel the need to pass gas, but like I said am afraid to push. LOL

I just realize this letter is going to the entire group - sorry gang! But I am sure you have been there a time or two...

Should get results back tomorrow or Thursday.

Hey Deb, I wanted to ask you something else, my Doctor wants me to go at least temporarily disability, he said for a least a year why I do treatment, and I am fine with that. However, I called to try and get medical help from the state because I lost my cobra last week because I couldn't afford to pay for it any longer as I haven't worked in 4 weeks now, with the mono.

Anyway - Social Service told me that the only way I can get a medical card is if I am over the age of 60, I have a child at home under the age of 18, or if I am already receiving social security disability benefits.

So my question to you is this: Do you or anyone else here know how to speed things up or any tips when I go to apply for SSD, I am doing that this week, as soon as I can get around better, hopefully tomorrow. And my Doctor is such a cool Doctor, he knows my situation and my financial, and he knows I came out here to over see my Mothers care, in fact he is also her internist.

I was just wandering, as I have never done this before, I started it the first time on Pheonix, but never followed through as I moved back to Kansas.

Any advice anyone can give, would be very much appreciated as I have no medical care as of last week.

Deb - please tell me how your doing and feeling. I know you are back in Louisiana, hows the building coming along?

But more importantly - how are you feeling?

I can't sit too long and have more mail to return

May God Bless You and YOurs

Love, hugs, and Prayers to you all

Marie

, Honey so sorry you had such a rough time for your bx.

That does happen and it's not just you. For many of us after having HCV for so long and after TP this is the norm now for us.

The more inflammation you have the more you feel it and also what route and depth was used for the bx. It all depends on what area was used for necessity and which bundle of nerves was also involved in the bx. Pain radiates and will travel may paths on it's way and to many other areas. The nerve bundle usually disturbed and possibly hit for a liver bx causes pain to radiate usually up to the right shoulder, straight through to the back or down the right side.

Del is back in the hospital for another very serious staff infection. He has a recent chronic history of them. Bayla has spoken to him and knows which hospital. She is on her way to go see him in a few days and take care of things.

Take Care and God Bless.

I don't know if all states have it, but here (in Arizona) Tom was able to get AHCCCS (their name for Medicaid) because he can't work. He ahd to show med records, but now his meds are covered, plus food stamps, plus cash every month. He applied through Arizona Department of Economic (in)Security. It works the same way in Texas. But, the place to start would be the office where you apply for food stamps.

Del has another staph infection and that is why he is in the hospital.I really think you should get things checked out cause it doesn't sound right what is happening to you.It is scarry that you are having all these problems. It could be also that things were enlarged because of the mono. Can you get unemployment insurance because you are looking after your mom.I know in canada you can get it if you are sick and have a doctors note that they don't want you going back to work for x amount of time.Take care hon and be careful.
