Guest guest Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 And my life just seems to spiral out of control, I try to deal with things only to come up agaisnt brick walls time and time again, sometimes I think I just wanna curl up and die and yet I still persist; just gets draining :-( Still blasting out upbeat punk music at moment to try and pick me up :-) > > Too many events happening all at once! Then you could maybe face it with a fresh face or a new perspective. Quote
Guest guest Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 I have a kitchen floor that needs washing ... again. ;-) Raven > > Too many events happening all at once! Guest guest Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I have prevailed! My files are in order and two huge bags of shredded papers are the end result. The home is clean, furniture moved so I can have my three ceiling holes fixed and I am satisfied. Raven, I'd wash your floors any time as long as you don't have kids. Mine love to ride in on their roller blades and skid to a halt leaving a long black mark that must be scrubbed. I've heard Mr. Clean thing is good for that, but I do not see the need to buy it since I have to get on the floor and rub it out either way. {:> Kim > > > > Too many events happening all at once! Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Sounds good :-) Everytime I try get on top of my paperwork and feel as if I am getting somewhere something comes along to throw me off whack again - it is like a never ending battle, drowning in a sea of paperwork - even inspired me to write a poem about it once :-) I thought I had begun to get a handle on it again, but alas was poorley during the week and still don't feel 100% from that, another day spend most of day trying to sort something out only to find that it was not sorted due to someone not giving me the relevant information - and so on it goes :-( My son is off school for a week now and I somehow have to get a doctors appointment and other appointments and find someone to look after my son whilst I deal with somethings as my son cannot handle some places - I ain't rather fond of them myself either :-( It bank holiday on Mon' so I can't get to doctors then, Tues' you can bet it will be packed. On side note, I'm going to see/hear Donna talk today in Sheffield. I am rather nervous, stomach already playing up as it involves travel and going somewhere I have not been before, but I will be with people whom I am familiar with, which will help somewhat I hope. If I not too overwhelmed I will endevour to write about it later :-) > > I have prevailed! My files are in order and two huge bags of > shredded papers are the end result. Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I had to look up Donna to find out who she is. I'm so clueless sometimes. Hope you have a good time and your nerves don't bother ya too much. I wouldn't worry about your filing falling behind. When ya got kids ya do what ya can, when ya can. As long as the bills are being paid on time. My paperwork got put to the side for a long time when I was taking care of my mother-in-law. She was my hubby's grandmother who adopted him and had paperwork from her home dating back to the 1930's. I swear it was like walking through history sorting her stuff. The bank books, war rations, product booklets etc... are too cool so I sifted through the mountain she had carefully and kept some of the neat stuff. Kim Sounds good :-) > > Everytime I try get on top of my paperwork and feel as if I am getting > somewhere something comes along to throw me off <snip> > On side note, I'm going to see/hear Donna talk today in > Sheffield. I hope you were able to talk to her, as well, about the past. > Quote

The best advice I can give you is not to organize to organize--just do it, if that makes sense. Don't overthink or overdo it. And take care of things like mail right then and there, don't put it in a 'to do' pile. Quote
Guest guest Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I did have some long conversations with her, mostly about her youth. She was born in 1918 during the Flu Epidemic. I have her original Birth Certificate, morgage papers, and oh the cost of a new car back then with optional rear view mirror! She had to drop out of school to take care of her father who was blinded in a RR accident. She was a show girl in the 1933-34 World's Fair here in Chicago. The pictures are fabulous and Nana was a babe! If ya ever need info about anything Chicago, I have it. Also plans to make a undergound shelter for the " BOMB " . Magazines from Woman's Day & Family Cirle, Girl Scouts (she was a leader for 12 years) movies, pictures magazines, political stuff (her husband worked with Old Man Daley and the machine) and much more. I had to look up and learn about everything I came across, from the glassware, bar items (they owen a club), sewing patterns etc.. So much research to do.
