Sandi - has had the pneumovax and the Prevnar? Did he react

to both? What type of reaction did he have?

What he would be testing for without the vaccination is how

much " memory " his body has for the bacteria serotypes. Either from

a long ago vaccination or from the IVIG. IVIG provides passive

antibodies though and the system would not have even thought to

mount or maintain a response to them. So it would be memory of any

past vaccination to the pneumococcal serotypes.

Regarding xrays. Long ago when Macey was first diagnosed we were

caught between Duke wanting film proof and local ped " hearing "

or " seeing " infection. Knowing what we know now there were times

when the ped diagnosed something that wasn't there and treated for

the sake of treatment and then there were times she missed something

and the film caught it. Macey's lungs and sinuses are so diseased

now that xrays are useless (always show something " abnormal " ). So

with infections now we do CT scans. They're deeper and show past

the diseased tissue.

I've heard from many families who have either had children come into

a PID or resolve a PID at puberty. Something to do with the

hormones and how they affect the body.
