the proverbial cat, that is. This morning savannah woke up with

terrible leg pains and screaming about it, crying, hanging on me for

hours, and in frustration as she was begging me to help with the pain,

I asked her if I took her for a treatment that " might " help the leg

pains, and her asthma, and her stomach aches, what would she think?

she asked what it would involve, and I told her IV's. She started

crying more and said that would hurt. I asked her, doesnt this hurt?

wouldnt it be better to have one day once a month of " ouch " than these

horrible leg pains, stomach aches all the time, and always being sick?

YOu are already in pain all the time..........dont you think you would

rather try this? and finally she calmed down some, and asked when it

would happen. I am not going to give her the date yet, I dont think,

unless she really presses it, b/c I dont want her to be staring at the

calendar all the time and dreading it. But,now she knows somewhat what

is going on. I told her we would talk more after school. She does very

well with blood draws, but IVs are another matter....usually emla

works very well for her, and it doesnt really even need to be a lot,

its more " mind over matter " to her, If I tell her its magic cream and

it wont hurt, she just stares at the ceiling till its over. IF there

is no magic cream, she tenses up and then the sticks are harder.

I wonder if there are any kids here who might email me to let savannah

read about their experience? and let her mail back?

to that end, wouldnt it be nice if we had a link on this board for

kids on IVIG to talk to each other? or maybe we do and I just dontknow

about it.

on another note, I have question about Brennan. He has been sick for

about 5 weeks. He has been on prophylaxis Ceftin, one tsp once a day,

all winter. It started out as a head/chest cold, then set off the

asthma and ended with an ER run. He has been to the family dr several

times. He was on doubled ceftin--2 tsp daily--for nearly 3 weeks. He

started to get a little better and I was able to let up on his neb

treatments somewhat......then last week he ended up with the green

runny/stuffy nose, cough, sore throat etc etc again WHILE ON THE DOUBLE

CEFTIN. So, called the pulmos office, and pulmo said, the ceftin isnt

working, so we will switch to zithromax. He is on day 3 of zithro, and

seems like he is getting worse. He is napping a lot, still, which is

really not the norm for him, crying a lot, just acting very tired all

the time. But, no fever or anything like that. I just dont know if he

needs to be seen again, or just wait it out, but waiting doesnt seem

to be getting us anywhere.

OR, maybe it would be a smart idea to call and see if Olivia's strep

test is back yet, and if that is pos. maybe that is what we are

dealing with.(I get the good ideas a little late in the thought

process) Olivia has done very well on the zithro, whatever she had,

but Brennan just doesnt seem to be kickiing it.

ON the OTHER other hand, maybe this is just WHY he needs to start the

IVIG!!

Valarie

p.s., I dont know why I bothered with so much posting space, he is

like this all winter, it just frustrates me that he doesnt respond and

this is a nice frustration venting spot.
