Guest guest
Yesterday we went to the city for our daughter's 2nd appt with the psychiatrist. We were all so happy because since going on the celexa 6 weeks ago ( she is just at 20 mg right now) her mood has completely stablized and she is doing so well. She is not stressing about homework or school anymore and even though she still has strong ocd she is almost a dream to live with now personality wise. She is no longer crying every day and her rages have disappeared. I think she had one in 6 weeks(a short one, but bad) where as before she was having them every 4 days on average. She even started using the computer again ( still must completely wash it down, and bring her own chair though but at least she is using family stuff again). Well we were all happy and in the van and driving to lunch when she said, " What the hell " . I turned and asked what was wrong and she calmly said she just saw a cat walk across the floor of the van. She wouldn't lie to me about this stuff and she said seriously mom it was a black and white cat like our's at home. Of course we had no pets in the van. Now I know it was a sunny afternoon and light can play tricks on the eyes but having a child with ocd and on meds this just did not sit well with me at all. Should I be very concerned, is this a bad sign? I am supposed to up her meds a little bit next week. Is this a bad idea? Her mood is so stable now and she had responded so well. I am nervous. Anyone else out there with similar experiences? If she was bipolar would she have responded so well to the initial round of celexa? I hope I am just being paranoid. Thanks, Kim M
Guest guest
Hi Kim, My dd has bipolar and ocd. She has only hallucinated due to a med she was on.(Geodon) She is currently on zoloft and has never had a bad reaction to it even though she is bipolar. She has been on the zoloft for 5 years. My son was originally diagnosed with ocd and anxiety. He was put on prozac. The bad thoughts went away but he started bouncing off the walls. We then tried Zoloft and it did the same thing. Now he is on abilify. He still does not have the bad thoughts or hallucinations, but they changed his diagnosis to mood disorder nos. I thought he was having " bad thought " ocd, but the doctors say it's bipolar with psychotic episodes. Every doctor has their own theory. I have that happen to myself often. I will swear a cat or dog went by me, or a person. I have ocd as well and panic disorder. When I brought this up with my doctor he said it was stress and anxiety. The mind can do anything, as well as stress can also Hope this helps. Hugs Judy
Guest guest
Thanks Judy, I really appreciate your response. I know she had a lot of anxiety built up before we went in to see him even though it went well she was dreading this appointment immensely. I will chalk it up to that for now and watch for any further changes. Thanks, Kim > Hi Kim, > My dd has bipolar and ocd.
