Hi, we have had some of the same challenges with my 5 almost 6 yr old

donovan. I told the teacher at the beginning of the yr, once the

weather gets cold, he is going to be on a lot of steroids, his

behavior will change. Be ready for it!! She didnt believe me, I dont

think!! She said--but he is such a good little boy!! But there really

is a difference. Donovans teacher has been good about letting him get

up and move around, and giving him little jobs to do, like

reorganizing the book shelf, or passing out papers and crayons. It

helps to get the wiggles out, and she does the same thing with the

boys in class who have ADHD. Sometimes she just puts on some music and

has them to march around the class. The teachers have to learn to be

flexible with different kids!!sometimes its not so much he gets

hyper, but moody and cries easily. So far she has done pretty good

with him. Maybe a letter from his dr would help? Or if he already has

a 504 plan in place, or an IEP, you could add to it with special

treatment during steroids allowing him to move around more and things

like that.

And I agree with you........if a 6 yr old boy sat still all the time

and never got wound up, I would be WAY more worried!! I say, hey, I am

happy when they have the energy to be up and running around!!

BTW, last night I had my niece to babysit the boys for my 8 yr old

school music concert--they are both on steroids, and that was a good

move on my part, let me tell you. When I got home my niece looked

kinda stunned........Brennan had put on a big t-shirt(he is 3) and put

a big bouncy ball in the front and one in the back. then he stood in

the living room falling forward and backward BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE and

she was like, he has been doing this for HOURS!! I laughed and told

her THAT is why he didnt go to the concert LOL!!!
