Guest guest Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Sometimes I think we have a backwards family! <roaring laughter> we're on our 8th infusion tonight. has gotten blood twice. He is perfectly fine with it! Last week we did not get blood and again this week. So we are doing better! Now.for the completely backwards part. JOSEPH freaks out. I thought last week it was just because the prior week had gotten blood-but he did it again this week. Last week he kept asking me OVER and OVER while I was getting everything read, " Am I going to get blood in my line? " I would say, " No, ph. You haven't gotten any yet, so you probably won't ever have to worry about that. " Then he would ask say, " Well it could happen you know. I could get blood in my line and I don't want to get blood in my line and have to get another pokie. got blood in his line two times. So I COULD get blood in my line. " I calmed him and he was okay-then when we went to start his infusion, he went through it again and then kept saying, " I don't want to get blood in my line, " over and over. Got him going and he was relieved. So, fast forward to this week-7 infusions and he has never gotten blood. he's worried about it AGAIN. I had to continue to remind him that he has never had blood in his line or had to get an extra pokie! He doesn't worry about it all week long or anything, or maybe he does-he only mentioned it maybe once the entire week? He clearly he has issues! We (hubby and I) keep reinforcing the fact that he has not gotten blood in his line and that it rarely happens. He has OCD tendencies and he counts everything. After the first time got blood he wasn't upset. the second time threw him for a loop. He is the one who did not have problems with IVs until it took 8, 9 and up to 11 pokes to get a line in- Just wondering if any of you have kids who worry about this sort of thing and what you do to help them. , the one who actually got the blood in his line twice, is A okay and never says a word about it. Peace Be With You, Pattie Don't let your past dictate who you are now, but let it be a part of who you will become. Quote
