Guest guest
Hi, pawpurr256, The issue you raise re: organic fats and " screwed up fatty acid profiles " seems to be one that affects many people. I'd suggest a Google search on: cAMP and lipolysis (the breakdown or " digestion " of fats. cAMP appears to be an extremely important cell messenger compound that regulates the rate of cell growth, the release of histamine and plays a role in the breakdown of fats. A herb, called forskolin or Coleus Forskohlii is known to activate the enzyme adenylate cylclase that forms cyclic AMP within cells. " Forskolin is shown to exert a 6- to 400-fold increase in levels of cAMP The plant is native to India, where a long history of use includes supporting cardiovascular, respiratory, kidney, and nervous system function. It is said to increase the memory of cells. " (taken from one of many websites on Forskolin) From what I've read on the subject so far, it seems that if you don't have enough cAMP, you can't handle fat very well. Increase cAMP and fat metabolism will improve sez the research. Forskolin is now sold as a weight loss supplement because of this fat digestion-cAMP increasing effect. But increasing cAMP seems to have a lot of other benefits as well. Worth looking into I think. There are a few other foods/herbs that increase cAMP, notably Schizandra and Ginger. Oh yeah, and good old fashioned physical exercise also increases cAMP. Guest guest
Hi Colin, I appreciate your information about Forskolin and cAMP. I'll look into both. If what you say is true, I only wish I could increase cAMP the natural way, exercise, but feeding and dressing myself is about as much physical exertion as I can muster in a day, and on a bad day not even the latter. Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
Trish, Where did you get a fatty acid profile done? Something I would definitely like to do if it's not too expensive. Thanks, pawpurr256 <pawpurr256@...> wrote: Hi Colin, I appreciate your information about Forskolin and cAMP. I'll look into both. Guest guest
, I did the BodyBio tests -- supposedly the " cadillac " of fatty acid profiles. It takes about 8 weeks to get the results, which run 30- 40 pages (including both the patient and doctor versions of it). Unfortunately, it's not a cheap test/s. Here's the link for more info (btw, I did both tests). http://www.bodybio.com Trish --- Ladendorf <paulldndrf@y...> wrote: > Trish, > > Where did you get a fatty acid profile done?
