I recently started brewing kefir having ordered some dry milk kefir grains from

Dominic Anfiteatro in Australia (dom@...). The little shrink

wrapped bag came with instructions and I also got his book which has lots of

great information. As far as my experience with brewing kefir, the jury is

still out. I'm using 1% or fat-free milk from the grocery store, which I know

is not the best as far as taste is concerned. Drinking it straight is pretty

much like drinking plain sour milk. I love plain fat free yogurt and thought it

would be more like that. I do intend to keep using it, by mixing it in my

morning shake with brewer's yeast, wheat germ, flax seed, yogurt and Chocolate

Slimfast Powder. I highly recommend that mixture for a very healthful, filling,

tasty breakfast.

: " It must be me, I just love the stuff, neat. I can barely keep off it

while it matures for 24hrs after removal of grains. "

, what kind of milk do you use for your kefir? I know a body needs good

fat and I do get it from other sources than milk. As long as I am careful, I

don't have a weight problem, but I try to pick where I want to get my calories

and fats to keep my diet balanced. I'm sure whole milk kefir would be much

better than what I am getting, but as long as I mix it with other things I will

use it. I was hoping to love it, and I may get to that with some more

experience and experimentation. Thanks.
