Guest guest
My suggestion is to do it when his tummy is empty to give you a little more "wiggle" room and have something distracting, like cartoons for him to watch. The first time felt a little overwhelming for me, but we managed and now it's a piece of cake. Good luck! Ann Boros www.curvybaby.comjayann_24@... We do a great sponge bath & He doesn't really smell at all unless you start moving the shirt around under the cast. I haven't changed the shirt because I know I can get it off...but am scared I might not be able to get the new one on. (we have an extra brand new shirt the hospital gave us if we wanted to change it) I have seen the you tube video & it looks easy enough for what you are doing. Has anyone ever changed the shirt and had troubles? Should I just leave it alone? Next cast wont be till the first week of Jan. & I want him to be comfortable....any suggestions or tips? Guest guest
Hey Amber-- We have never changed the shirt underneath for Logan. But we do floss his cast when he is itchy. I just use a pair of pany hose and thread threw the top to the bottom and run them a long the places he itches. So far, this has worked for us! Guest guest
I change my son's a few times a week. He is older and able to help so I'm sure it makes a difference. However, the first time took us about 30 minutes and it was difficult. Now we can do it in about 3-4 minutes!! Guest guest
& all, I haven't changed the shirt yet because we got great news that they were able to bump up Levi's next cast date to right before Christmas. (the 22nd) So I'm hoping he can hang in there for the next 20 or so days till he gets a new one. The shirt is starting to thin badly in some areas & I'm scared it might rip or rub him wrong. He also started getting a slight rash around his neck from the turtle neck part of the shirt. I cut off a huge part of that in the beginning, but left a small piece so crumbs can't fall down. A little vasoline seems to help keep that under control. Anyone with skin issues have advise? Levi hadn't had any till just now, thought he was going to be lucky & avoid that...but maybe this is just a normal part of it too? Guest guest
Hi Amber, Great news about Levi's appt. being bumped up and that you'll be home before Christmas! Thankfully, Liv never had any skin issues in cast and we also used to cut the turtleneck/sleeves off and would mod podge them to the cast..especially during summer months!
