Guest guest
I have not tried that yet but will. Howeve I have a piece of scoby on my wart and it is tingling. Almost hurts. I just figured it was doing its thing. Sure hope so. Good luck with your cold sore!!! Tiff Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Scoby for cold sores? I have been getting over a cold - luckily that only lasted a couple of days. I usually end up getting cold sores whenever I happen to get a cold - which isn't very often. Today I was bottling my brew and I took some of the layers of scoby to toss into my compost bin because my culture was getting a bit thick (which I like because it produces more fizz). Anyway, I remember several members stating how they use scoby for burns, scrapes etc. I put a small piece of scoby on my lip for about 10 minutes as my kids were circling me asking me what the brown goop was (LOL). I must say that it actually has removed the pain. I still feel a little bit of " tingling " , so I'm wondering if its killing the virus.... Has anyone else had luck with using scoby to get rid of cold sores? Guest guest
Hi , I will definitely let you know. I will also try the liquid KT instead of just the scoby. I'm already at the " puffy " stage, but will try today with alternating liquid KT and scoby. I hate these things and so unattractive!!! Hopefully this will be another thing to add to the long list of things that KT/scoby help alleviate. Cheers O'Connell To Discover the Health Benefits of Juice Plus+ Visit me at: _www.tryjuiceplustoday.com_ (http://www.tryjuiceplustoday.com/) Mobile: (207) 577-0733 Hello! I hope it works for your cold sore! Could you let me know? I and others in my family suffer from them... I did want to let you know, that I seemed to be starting one the other day and I put some KT on it and just let it dry, for a few times a day and it never developed. Another day the whole front of my upper lip started swelling and was red..I put some KT on it (just the liquid) only once or twice and let it dry and no cold sore! Hope it works!! Guest guest
Hello all, I do have them sometimes often, it depends on my immune system. When I do have them, I put some fresh lemon juice on it, it goes away faster. Gul Holmdel, NJ kombucha tea@...: grasshut8@...: Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:58:38 +0000Subject: Re: Scoby for cold sores? The best natural cold sore relief I've found is good-old-fashioned camphor ointment. Carmex is great if you aren't worried about all-organic, and there are several camphorated Burt's Bees products if you are. If you're like me, you'll buy some from the incense counter at an Indian grocery in a large city and make your own with organic olive oil and beeswax. *grin*
Guest guest
There is a very tiny tube of..something at the drugstore for cold sores. It makes them go away in a matter of hours.(for me anyway) Even if they are up and going pretty well. It is expensive,($20 range) but cold sores are really bothersome.....I wish I could remember the name of it. I'll bet there is only 3 or 4 drops in the tiny tube but it seems to last forever. Guest guest
I looked tonight. The stuff is called " Releev " . Cold sores make me nuts really fast. I'm sure KT,scoby will heal them well....I would just rather do it in a couple of hours or so. Don <lostriverrisin@...> wrote: There is a very tiny tube of..something at the drugstore for cold sores. Guest guest
Hi , Just my 2 cents...my daughter, sister, and manager at work take L- Lysine every day. If they forget for a few days, they will sometimes develop a cold sore, if they are taking it regularly, they never have one. Guest guest
I find this interesting. We, as a group are interested in things that really work....or are we? The main reason I started all this was to find something that actually works for the end result to make my life easier, happier and healthier. .If the stuff in the tiny little tube works... then that/those goals can be/are met, fast. If it does not ruin my health, all the better. I am 100% sure that KT, kefir and the likes are a huge answer to many persons health problems, including mine. I have all of them! I am using ALL of them! But I guess my " this century mentality " is still... I want it now! I am waiting for the statement(s) that KT can fix marital problems or something....if we all just do this or that......long enough.... It interferes with activation of the provirus (virus " gene " inserted into your DNA), which is why it's useful in slowing the activity of HIV as well, another virus that works similarly to herpesvirus. Always be wary of anything -- a panacaea -- that " fixes " too many things all at once. Like grandpa always said, " If it sounds too good to be true . . . Guest guest
Don....I think KT, and Kefir do help on a few different levels, but maybe not that fast fix. First off they help detox which in turn helps to strengthen our immune system. That is turn will improve one's ability to fight any number of invaders including herpes. And if the placebo effect plays a part? What's wrong with that? As for the herpes virus being a permanent resident...I don't believe that has to be the case either. The human body is amazing and when combined with a strong mind and spirit, anything is possible. How many times have we read of someone with incurable cancer that is still living ten years after a diagnosis giving two months? When we start believing all the limitations the allopathic medical and pharmaceutical establishments put on us we succumb to what they say will happen. Look at bio-feedback. How incredible is that? I have a bio-feedback program that is part of a computer " game " called " Journey to Wild Divine " By consciously controlling breathing, heart rate and sweat responses you control the action in aspects of the game. No mouse or joystick...just the bio-feedback sensors and you. If you really want a non-pharmaceutical way to control your blood pressure, this is it! So when someone tells me that something has to be or cannot be for this or that scientific reason...I say hogwash. Miracles happen everyday. And I never dismiss the ability of the spiritual and/or divine to to contribute as long as we are accepting of it. Had to get that said. :- ) Gayle Re: Scoby for cold sores? >I find this interesting. " with one of my own. If an effect is due to a miracle of some sort, it's not dependent on the kombucha (as that's the topic at hand). Therefore, miracle or no, there's still neither evidence for nor reason to suspect that topical application of kombucha does anything beyond the suppression of stinging that acid of any kind can do (vinegar on bugbites, for example). I'm not saying that miracles don't happen. I'm saying that if a miracle occurs in, for instance, healing of a cold sore, attributing it to the kombucha rather than to the miracle is the hogwash. Therefore, the " miracle " card doesn't support (and if anything degrades) any argument for the efficacy of topical KT application.

Guest guest
Hi ...just a p.s. on the cold sore....Also over the years, before I had the KT, I found the quickest way to get rid of the cold sores was with peroxide. Just a q-tip dipped in peroxide and then dabbed on the cold sore. I would do each end of the q-tip and usually it will dry up the cold sore very quickly. It bubbles a little after a day of doing this but out of all the ointments just plain peroxide has dried it up the fastest for me. Probably between drying it with the peroxide and healing it with the KT it should clear soon?!...I hope! Good luck! Just wanted to let you know since it's already swelled up...Hope this helps!!
