Guest guest
Hi, I'm brewing my second batch so as you can see I'm very new. I've seen talk about continous brewing, but I'm having trouble finding exactly how it's done. If there's a file somewhere can someone direct me? Thanks much. Guest guest
Hi Diane and EveryOne, I wrote an article about the way that I do Continuous Fermentation in one of the Kombucha Manna International Newsletters. You can find it here: http://users.bestweb.net/~om/kmi/news.html Just scroll down the page until you come to the Newsletter on Continuous Fermentation.....I think it is number 13. Guest guest
> If I just keep decanting kombucha and adding new tea there > will be new scoby babies growing, right? Because the surface of the kombucha is disturbed quite often (daily or every other day) by adding new tea, formation of new scobies in the same way an original can be formed ( " skinning " over the top) is unlikely. " Peeling " from the top of the parent happens, though, after some time. > Do I remove them at some point or are they staying in the > jar? Won't they take over after some time? When the speed of fermentation becomes too fast (your culture becomes more sour than you like in the time in which you drink it), you'll want to remove the oldest scoby. > And what about the old ones? Are they dying after a > certain amount of fermenting cycles and how do I know if > they are not doing there job anymore and do I have to > remove them then? I've never had one die. The main reason people get rid of the old one and keep the new one is (a) cosmetic, and ( who needs so many babies? *grin* > Ohhh, so many questions... ( - from an annoying newbie...). Don't worry . . . we were all newbies once too. The only annoying newbies are the ones who think they already know everything!
