Wow it is like 70 here.. Boo

-- RE: Re: Dick

What is it they always say - it ain't the heat, it's the humidity. We're up in the 90s here - for us, heat stroke time. Maybe it'll rain tonight & my brain will return from it's vacation. Wherever it is - I hope it's having fun.

I remember San weather from when I at Ft Sam in

1966. It does get hot there.

I am heading for Vegas weekend after next and that should be a hot time

but it is dry heat. Yeah, Right!

Better

late than never, I think, but the parades will be too late for many that might

have survived the return if theyā€™d have been given a proper welcome then.

You'll have to ask him, but it's really not an issue to push

untill he's ready.

Remember that we did not have parades when we got back.

I agree. There are a lot of vets that came back from VN that

were dead in their souls, but they never got their name on the

" Wall " . PTSD, Agent Orange, etc, are still taking their toll on

us.

Topic: Members with HCV who have HCV+ Friends and Family members and who

Hi De,

Vietnam vets are starting to get more and more recognition for

their service and deservedly so. There was a huge welcome home event in

Branson this summer and I am hearing that a lot of Veterans Day parades

are being dedicated to Vietnam vets this year. The largest Veterans Day

parade in California, held in Fresno, will be broadcast nation wide and

to our troops overseas. That Fresno parade is dedicated to Vietnam vets

and the theme is " Welcome Home " .

Now, if we can just get Congress to fully fund health care for those vets

that earned it and deserve it....... a lot of us would be a happier and

especially those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Did you know that

some of our troops are on their second or third tour over there?

Ok, I will take my soapbox away and go back to listening.

I know the feeling. The driver gets a salary and a share of

the profits and, of course, endorsement money. The team owner gets the

big checks and pays the bills.

I am looking forward to Daytona next year.

Hiya Dick,

In Formula One the usual deal is the driver gets 40% (besides his contract), the mechanics split 40% and the team owner get's 20%. There are no published purse numbers in F1 (because of tax reasons) but the last I knew first paid 2.75 Mil USD. The top drivers get around $2 Mil per race just to drive the car with bonuses attached for points earned. Seems like a lot but you have to consider the risk involved. In order to drive a F1 car you must be a FIA Super License holder. At any given time there are approx. 60 Super license holders in the world. If you go back in history you will find that the odds of a Super License holder dying are 1 in 60 per year.

The costs to field a team are MUCH higher than any other form of racing. McLaren's budget this year for 3 cars was $900 Mil USD. That's one of the reasons so many folks from other types of racing (Penske, Roush, etc.) have jumped into NASCAR Cup racing. Great exposure, it's relatively cheap, there are lots of available drivers and the cars are built like tanks out of plain old sheet metal and steel pipe.

's check may seem like a lot but not when you compare it to Hideki Matsui getting $52 Mil for 4 years to play baseball. Only wall he's ever going to hit is padded LOL.. If he only plays regular season games that works out to $80,247.00 PER game. Now THERE"S a job!

Allan with 2 L's still counting his change
