Breanna tongue actually gets whit but than it has spots that make it look

like a strawberry Breezys ped always told me to look at her tongue that this

shows there is infection going on and through the years I've always checked

her tongue and sure enought if it had that strawberry look her ears would be

infected, Breanna does not always run fevers with the infection and/or have

pain with them so this has become the way for us to know that something is

going on with her

Hi Laurie,

I'm intrigued by the 'strawberry' look. Does this mean Breannas' tongue

has a strawberry colour? Do you know why this happens with her ear

infections? It is great that you have worked out the connection.

Hi !!

I've missed you!! Hope you are doing well.

Just wanted to chime in here -- I have also noted a " strawberry tongue "

connection to infections in . Seems like she can get this with ear, sinus

or

even throat. Which is tough because when there is a strawberry tongue they

suspect strep throat/scarlet fever and have to do a strep test, and my children

(and I) have NEVER had strep throat.

So of course we do the culture if they feel it's needed, but at least it's a

marker for us for infection of SOME kind. (not necessarily strep for us)

(mom to , age 5-1/2, dairy intolerant-related GERD -- currently

has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell &

other defs... and also to Kate, born 9/19/02, dairy intolerant)

I've been so happy to hear of this connection. frequently has

strawberry tongue, but not necessarily with a throat infection or strep. It can

happen with just ear infections! This is an easy, at-home quick check for me.

The

problem is, it's not always there!! But if it is...I run to the Ped.
