Guest guest Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 A couple of months ago, my DAN recommended giving my son inositol after he saw him slap himself in the head in his office. He didn't really tell me how much. I bought inositol caps at the pharmacy 500 mg, and started him with 1 in the morning- he 5 yrs. about 55 lbs. I saw nothing, so, I increased it to 2 in the morning- and zip. When I started him on valtrex almost 3 weeks ago, I reduced the inositol back to 1 in the morning, which is what he is still getting. The question: I have never noticed any change in him from the inositol, his OCD is worse than ever (could be from the valtrex) and he slaps himself in the head and bangs his head into the wall when he's frustrated just as much. Should I discontinue the inositol because it doesn't do anything for him, increase it, or continue it for a while longer? To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure what the inositol is supposed to do for him. I assumed it would help with the head slapping and OCD, but it hasn't. Thanks. Amber. Quote
