And my husband is always correcting me when I say wrong words , he may not know it but it kinda hurts my feels I am so glad to hear you are feeling better , it's nice to see ya here . We miss ya boss lady , lmao Back from Vacation and not all whole. Some of you know that I went on vacation to Mississippi for a mental health break, because I am the foster mother of 3 children (teenagers) and I have one child of my own (pre-teen) at home. Well, with all the stuff going on here, buying a house, remodeling it, moving in, and the kids being pains in the butt to say the least. I was getting to the end of my rope. A friend of mine invited me to Mississippi, and my husband said for my peace of mind, I need a break. So off I went. This saga will tell you that nurses are the worst patients and quick to dx themselves with everything but the right thing. LOL On the plane trip down, I noticed that my vision was very blurry, but I thought I just had dry eyes from being on the plane. So when I got there, I met my friend and used a half of bottle of eye drops trying to get my eyes to see. And it did help some. After a few days my vision improved and I didn't think much about it. Then we went to New Orleans,Bixoli, and areas around the coast and while there sampled some good Mississippi food, deep fried of course. Lots of Sweet tea as only the southerners can make it. My vision began to blur again. Hmmmm this is not good. I took some sinus medicine thinking it was my sinus putting pressure on my eyes. Nope that didn't do it. Then we had to take my friend's granddaughter to , Ms to the dentist. While there I started putting all my symptoms together. Thirst (raging), going to the bathroom to at even opportunity. Fuzzy head, worse than every had with my hep C, sweating, and other symptoms that I will not mention in polite company. But in a private email to both Liz ,Jackie, anne, they all mentioned that I should check my sugar. Hm mm they couldn't be right could they? We went to Walmart after the appt. and I decided to get a cheap blood sugar monitor just for grins. Tested my blood it said HI. What, must be something wrong with the monitor. Tested again. HI. hmmmm definitely something wrong with the monitor. We got back to my friend's house and her husband is a diabetic, who has a monitor and we tested with his monitor. It said HI. Hmmmm I took two 500mg of cinnamon pills and about two hours later it was 507. Not a good thing. Still I was in denial, so I said to myself, well I will cut the sugar for tonight and check it in the morning. Yeah, I know Jackie and Liz, I was playing in dangerous waters. But I am a nurse, and the guy across the street from them is a RN also, so we both thought it was a fluke. Because well I was still walking around and making sense. LOL Next morning I took my B/S before breakfast and their daughter who is in her early 30's was there. She looked at the monitor and told her parents that we were taking a trip to the ER. It was 535. Got to the ER and I was rushed to a bed. They started a IV drip on me, and took my B/S still 530. The Male RN on duty gave me a stern look and said you know better my dear. Yeah, Okay you are right. Then the doctor came in read me the riot act. You should have been here last night when you got the HI reading, that mean your B/S was over 600. Death, coma, irreversible damage to kidneys and other things could have happen. Okay doc, you are the boss. They gave me 10 units of reg.NPH insulin and my sugar after a hour came down to 435. I was able to go home, but with a arm load of prescriptions. I now take, Levemir 10 units daily, Byetta 5mcg x2 daily, Actoplus Met 15/500 x 2 daily. Fun, I am back to injecting myself. Now more times than every. I am injecting 3 times a day. Fun,Fun,fun. But the good news is the Byette has a side effect of regenerating inlet cells of the pancreas, and causes weight loss. Which I need badly. He said I had a raging kidney infection and that is what topped me over into diabetes. So I am also on Levaquin 250 mg. Till the infection clears up. So while Hep C has not killed me, My sugar almost did. Dang. We will see how this progresses. Also my liver enzymes were up, so that is not a good thing as far as I can see. I can most assuredly see that Hep C might have came back into play. Hmmm not a happy camper. Love JanetTake the ordinary things of life, and make them your own.
