is valtrex for the herpes simplex virus?

I am new to this group. My daughter is 5 1/2 and I think she definitely has the viral issues going on. A lot of my siblings have herpes simplex(fever blisters) including myself. What exactly is the valtrex prescribed for? Herpes simplex? I spoke with my pediatrician about running some tests and of course she mentioned that it would actually be a good thing if my daughter's titer's were high. This just goes to show what she knows about autism. I am very interested in this herpes simplex issue. What makes it even more interesting is that I have it. Does your child have to have high titers in order to be put on valtrex? Thank you for your input.

Ginger, Herpes comes in 9 forms. Herpes 1 & 2 are the fever blisters and genital herpes. Usually for spectrum children, they are put on Valtrex if their herpes 6, 7, or 8 are high. Most typically herpes virus 6. When you check these viruses through a blood test, it most probably will say that the virus has been reactivated at some point and the titer is higher than the reference range.
