My biggest problem right now is that I hurt my sciatica nerve a couple weeks ago, so, I am not doing anything right now. It hurts to lay, walk, stand, etc...it is worse than the sides from the drugs..ahhhh..and now I have this terrible cough that came out of no where.. the hard part is that my doctor is an hour away and I dont have the energy to get to his office. I need to have my labs done, and I havent for 4-5 weeks..I feel like a darn failure sometimes. I lay around in jammies and hate putting clothes on..I wish I could just send my blood in..I know I need to do this, but, I just dont have the strength or will right now, I wanted to know if brusing is a sign of low blood counts tho??? I seem to be bruisng a lot lately.. and my little red circles are getting worse..thanks geri

Well, as you know my gastro would not give me any pain pills...anyway, I went to the ER last week, because I had hurt my sciatica nerve (back), and he asked me well how did you get the Hepc? I said I am not sure, maybe from all the tattoos I have that I got in the 70s and 80s. He says well did you ever used IV drugs.. I said yes..but I still dont know if that is where I got it from..I just hate it, why does he need to know how??? The fact is that I have it, not how I got it..geeesh...but, then he did a terrible assestment on me, checked my heart for about 2 seconds, no x ray, no neuro tests..etc...he gives me a script for feoroset...a med that is for tension headaches that has caffeene in it.. I didnt even get it filled. But, I did call the patient advacate the next day and told her I felt like Larry the Cable Guy was my doctor, he even had that thick of a county accent. I almost asked him where he went to medical school..I told her I would not pay for the visit, and my insurance would not be billed.. now, Friday I went to a clinic, and the NP listined to me, took blood, got an xray, and gave me ultram and a muscle relaxor.. Now, I dont know if it is going to help..it has taken away some of the pain, but, I think I am going to need to talk to a neurosurgen...geri

Barb, the bad doctor was the ER doc..so I dont have to see him again...the gastro doc said that he wouldnt give me pain meds because why put more toxins into my liver??? They have a real fear of loosing thier licenses here because of prescribing meds..He said just suck it up..geri

Oh Geri, so easy for them to say suck it up. They give out pain meds and anti-depressants like crazy here, why is when you really need it, they'd say no. Absurd. Sorry to hear what you are going through. Be well. Thats awful for an ER doc to treat you that way,, YOU DID THE RIGHT THING in calling the patient advocate,, AND REFUSING to pay the bill,, our insurance costs are high enough without this bull s,,, lol,,, HE DIDNT NEED to know HOW you got it,, its none of his business and I would have told him that.. but then again, I have a big mouth,, lol Im glad you got some pain meds,, a lot of ppl take Norco because it has a low dose of tylenol in it but a higher dose of narcotic and they are safer for the liver.. good luck hon it sounds like the pain meds you got are ok and the muscle relaxer should help too,, us4heavenbound@... wrote: Well, as you know my gastro would not give me any pain pills...anyway, I went to the ER last week, because I had hurt my sciatica nerve (back), and he asked me well how did you get the Hepc? Geri,

Be careful with that stuff. That was too much to take. One flexoril is pretty strong and ultram is considered a strong opoid I believe.

Barbara

yeah no kidding...wow...I used to have such a high tolerance.. actually ultram is non narcotic but works on the same receptors in the brain as they do..ekkk geri

Oh, I must have gotten it mixed up with something else. Sometimes I can take something and be ok, and then try again and it makes me sick or knocks me out. Be well. I agree with you absolutely. At age 65 I had to get false teeth, and my used-to-be dentist pulled 17 teeth in the same hour. I told him when I came in that I had Hep C, but he pulled those doggone teeth and blood was going all over the place--on him, his nurse and on the floor. I motioned for him to stop and reminded him I had Hep C. He asked me how I got it. By this time I was furious--thinking of all the people he might have put in danger of getting it, too. I just told him "I uthed to be a prothtitute!" His jaw dropped, then he realized that I didn't mean it, and he laughed and said, "Good answer!"

Great answer , lol . I am not the one that wrote that , I have never used IV drugs hehe . That's one thing I have been lucky with ....I have never had a doctor with the guts to ask me that kind of question . I would have hit the roof and maybe even him , hehe . I am a strong advocate for hep c patients and believe strongly that once ya got it it really doesnt matter where it came from . That's why there is still so much stigma attached to this virus , for some reason allot of docs think that if a patient is hep c positive then they got it using drugs .

The way I looked at the question of how long do you think you have the virus or how do you think you got it was one that was actually a helpful question for me as far as my treatment or understanding my symptoms, etc. I think it is helpful for the doctor to know how long the virus might be in you, it just might make a difference. I do believe it is a very hard thing to admit to drug use as being the cause, and much easier to answer I don't know, though many people really don't know or don't know for sure. I agree with you about knowing how long a person has had the virus . Because the longer you have had it the greater the degree of damage if you haven't treated . But knowing how a person got it is moot point .
