Guest guest Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Tracey, Just to add yet another possibility: how long has she been taking garlic/allicin? asking because we had our son on crushed garlic for a while and he also regressed slightly, which I now believe was due to its anti-viral properties - I believe he had some sort of 'healing regression' that lots of people here see with Valtrex or OLE. She might actually be fighting viruses with garlic, and not yeast! Our son improved after we stopped garlic. Natasa > > Tracey, > The garlic and cinnamin may not be enough for the yeast and yeast isn't necessarily a bad thing when doing antibacterials and antivirals, you just have to stay on top of it. It could be yeast or do you happen to have her on a calcium supplement? Calcium caused those regressive problems in my son. - > > > >From: deltaskymiles2317 tracy@... > >Date: Wed Apr 26 13:37:33 CDT 2006 > >mb12 valtrex > >Subject: Need help for my daughter who is in a regression and we cannot figure out why > > > > > > > In a previous email I described what is going on with my daughter > >. Guest guest Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Natasa, THanks for your input. I just recently thought of the same hunch that maybe she was having a healing regression. I am desparate to fight the bacteria though wihich is the reaon we used the garlic in the first place. I would like to avoid flagyl as it increased yeast in my son. Anyway, did you finally quit using the garlic due to the regression or did your son finally come through the regression. THe other thought I had was to fight the virus harder so I added ole and laurreaux which is also an antiviral . I think things are getting better for her. I am just not sure how long I should continue the Allicin. her stomach aches have subsided greatly since we began the allicin. What did you switch to when you stopped using the garlic? lTHanks again. > > Tracey, > > Just to add yet another possibility: how long has she been taking > garlic/allicin? asking because we had our son on crushed garlic for a > while and he also regressed slightly, which I now believe was due to its > anti-viral properties - I believe he had some sort of 'healing > regression' that lots of people here see with Valtrex or OLE. Yes in the past 3 months we have done a food panel and she is not eating anything to my knowledge she has problems with she is also on a GCF and low sugard diet. I think what has happened is the garlic/cinnamone compound threw her into a healing regression for viruses. We were using it to treat clostridia. But we had stopped the other supplements for 30 days and picked up after 2 weeks of giving her the allicin.. Anywya, perhaps she did not have enough support from other supplements etc. but I think it threw her into a healing regression. We started all supplements back about a week and half ago and she seems to slowly becoming out of it. Moral of this story for us is I will not treat her again for bacteria, or viruses with no other supplement support. Also I began about 4 or 5 days ago to add back Laurreaux and ole to her (virus fighters) diet. Hoping between all of these things we could attack the virus. Anyway, progress is slow but she does seem to be getting better. I have not given up on the Alicin though because I need it to fight clostridia and I do not want to use Flagyl (it increased yeast in my son) and we have worked too hard to get the yeast way down for my daughter. Thank you for all of you who responded to me I have been in a panic the past week and a half. Quote

Guest guest Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 We also started garlic with the idea of fighting bacteria. Were not prepared for anything of antiviral nature. Had to stop as were worried as to what was going on, but also because he started figuring out there was something funny going on with his cherry tomatoes. Started spitting them out. As I said we had no antiviral strategy in place so didn't continue on anything. Also, when we stopped garlic his yeast (during garlic treatment his poop got very yeasty and tongue was very white) issue got better, more or less on its own. The only thing was SCD with very little fruit and some probiotics. He stopped regressing after we pulled ALL supplements he was on at the time. While he was on garlic he was also on sac.b for his clostrida. His mood was very good in the first week or two of this combo. When we upped garlic and added a few B vitamins, as well as C, he started getting red cheeks, runny nose, getting agressive etc. I suspect now that vitamins in combination with garlic awakened his immune system... have a look at this for antibacterial 'ideas': http://www.ei-resource.org/anti-bacterial.asp Best of luck!!! Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 You are welcome. SCD is free from complex sugars, it allows honey and fruit, including dried fruit. It is recommended you cut down of those though while yeast is suspected. The original SCD is not casein free, it is only lactose free, as it wasn't created with autistic kids in mind. We are on casein-free version of the diet (which is a shame because the home-made yogurth as per Elaine is supposed to be great for balancing the gut bacteria). We also tried goat-milk yogurt, which lots of kids tolerate fine, but that didn't work for us either. you can find out more on http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/autism/autism.htm and www.pecanbread.com Sac.boulardii is a type of 'friendly' yeast that is supposed to be great help in fighting clostrida. I think it is easy to get hold of, just try googling it. It is recommended you don't give it for long stretches of time in case of compromised immune system (which most of our kids have), some say a week at a time, some say a month is ok. I know people that have used it for much longer than that with no problems but we chose to stop after a month. Might restart at some point. Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 You are welcome. SCD is free from complex sugars, it allows honey and fruit, including dried fruit. Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I feel for us SCD and probiotics are (almost) enough defence against yeast in general, having said that we do not have much choice in that matter Sac.boulardii is not a probiotic, it is a type of yeast - although it does have a 'probiotic' type effect. I am not sure it fights other bacteria except clostrida. Clostrida is quite common in ASD kids, might be because of week immune systems that it is allowed to take hold. Same with yeast and dysbiotic flora.
