Guest guest
Hi , No no longer has a service coordinator because he is three. Its just the school system here in Atlanta. I have talked with serveral other parents and they were not surprised at all. That to me was really disturbing. Apparently they do what ever they can not to provide services. All the parents I have talked to say you have to keep calling and really be assertive on everyting. We are just learing the ropes and it isn't encouraging. I have been told that once you pass the big testing at age 6 its a real pain but after that they are less controling and will do more what you ask when you ask. they say in the beginning, the education dept tries to get parents into being controlled so they won't be bothered by them. Its just horrible. the person in charge of our IEP is the lead teacher at the school ( the school is the main diagnostic center for kids with disabilities in our county - so I thought they would at least do what the law requires but apparently not). is receiving speech at school and I guess its ok. He only gets 45 min broken into two segments of 30 min and 15 min on another day. the ST is very young and not very experienced but I will say loves her, actually I think he has a huge crush on her. But of course no OT yet and I have been told it should have started back in Jan. SoI will be calling on Monday. If I remember correctly you are a special ed teacher arn't you?? Margaret w/ Greyson and (DS) - 3 and Annice - 23 mos.
