Anyone who buys this tshirt in the next two weeks, 50% of the profits

will be donated to the NE Ohio Group. I wish I could say I'm

surprised, but I'm not. This is the M.O. of Autism Speaks.

Perhaps I'm a bit touchy about this whole topic, given what happened

to me when I showed up at the Cleveland Rocks Autism benefit concert

last spring at the House of Blues, with flyers about thimerosal and

vaccine damage to hand out to people. But this whole thing has me very

confused and skeptical.

Why would the Northeast Ohio Autism Group agree to give money to

Autism Speaks, with no idea beforehand how much money would go to

local groups if this was such an important thing to them?

And why would it take them this long—seven months—to discover that the

Autism Treatment Network is no longer in existence? The whole idea of

having a verbal agreement in the first place strikes me as odd but

then I'm not a very trusting person I guess. Especially when it comes

to trusting Autism Speaks.

I guess I'm asking the wrong people. Come Monday I will call them and

ask them why it took them so long to find this out. And while I'm at

it I'll be sure to fill them in on what happens to people who try to

hand out information about thimerosal and vaccine damage on the

sidewalks of Cleveland, thanks to organizations such as Autism Speaks.

Just in case they don't already know.

I like the tee shirts. But maybe I'll hold off on purchasing one until

after the holidays.

suffocate her with mink stoles. When she wouldn't drop they tried to

poison her with Moet et Chandon and then, at the last minute, attempted

to run her over in a stretch Escalade! Thank God she survived by

pretending to be a board member of Merck - they backed off

immediately. It was a close call.

Lol. Well it wasn't anything quite that bad. They just tried

to have me arrested was all. SOMEBODY tried to have me arrested. I assumed it

was the lovely ladies of the local chapter of Autism Speaks. The problem is I

went out to this Cleveland Rocks Autism benefit concert last spring armed with my thimerosal flyers (all about how

thimerosal's mercury and it's in vaccines and there're people who think it

causes autism and other chit), and my `autism—it's no mystery it's mercury' tee

shirt, and I ran into these women who were all dressed to the nines in shiny

glittery dresses, but having only recently gotten involved with the local

autism groups here in Northeast Ohio I didn't know the names of any of them.

And they acted kind of like as if I were armed not with thimerosal flyers but

with anthrax or suicide bombs or Sarin gas, which I promise everyone I wasn't.

A couple of police cars came and the police asked me to

leave and I said no and they asked my husband if he couldn't maybe get me to go

home and he said "well no I don't think so, she's pretty passionate about

all of this", good man that he is, and so then the chief of police came

and he told me it was alright if I stayed just so long as I didn't harrass

anyone and I of course I wasn't harrassing anyone so that wasn't a problem. I

did approach a few people who were getting out of their cars in front of the

House of Blues, where the valet service was picking up their cars, and the

valet service owner didn't like that very much, but that was before I realized

there even was a valet service. (I

thought it was just guys dropping off their wives and girlfriends at first). When it was all explained to me I agreed to

stay on the sidewalk.

Anyway the President of the local chapter of AS later

claimed, on this local autism support forum, that nobody ever tried to have me

arrested. And while I don't know the names of the women who told me I would

have to leave or else face arrest, I'm pretty sure they didn't work for the

House of Blues Management, unless the House of Blues hires bouncers are

women in their thirties or forties who wear shiny clothes and high heels and

too much makeup.

After Ms. Goldberg took the opportunity on that local forum

(where she'd been trying to raise money for some other event) to say that

nobody ever tried to have me arrested, I went out of my way to get a copy of

the Police Dept. incident report.

Geez, the Ohio faction of the ladies who lunch dropped a dime on

you! Maybe it would have been better if they'd attempted to assault

you with pearls and pelts. At least then you could have gotten it on

tape and sued their fancy, fake-philanthropic butts!

Whether or not they've simply jumped onto what they see as the latest fad philanthropic bandwagon. I don't know anything much about them as I've never met any of them. I do know that one of the women who spoke to me outside of the House of Blues said that she herself had a child with autism. Asked me toleave and told me she had a child with autism and asked me if I could understand that. The idea being, I think, that since she had a child with autism and I didn't, I couldn't understand what she'd gone through and so she felt I think that I had no right to remain there against her wishes. I do believe she was sincere in this. In that she had a child with autism. I have to say that it's really hard for me to fathom why a parent with a child who has autism would support this organization, and yet I see it happen, even when the people supporting them seem perfectly aware of just what it is they are supporting.I don't know what motivates them. I don't know if they hope to get funds or if they have tried the alternative, biomed and nutritional sorts of treatments an they've got the tough nuts that just won't crack that I've heard about, the children who aren't really helped that much by it, or if they've just gotten to be friends with these people over many years and so that makes it hard for them to see things objectively, or if they really think I'm a lunatic in my beliefs about mercury or just very wrong and so AS is justified in wanting to shut me up, or what exactly. I left a phone message with NEOAG. Left my name and phone number and asked them to return my call. I'm curious as to why it took them so long to find out that Autism Treatment Network in Cleveland no longer exists. I'm curious as to what suddenly made them start asking questions about it, if they only recently started questioning where the money went. I'm curious as to whether or not any of them were there that night at the HOB last spring, and told me I had to leave.Robin Nemeth

Whether or not they've simply jumped onto what they see as the latest fad philanthropic bandwagon. I don't know anything much about them as I've never met any of them. I do know that one of the women who spoke to me outside of the House of Blues said that she herself had a child with autism. Asked me toleave and told me she had a child with autism and asked me if I could understand that. The idea being, I think, that since she had a child with autism and I didn't, I couldn't understand what she'd gone through and so she felt I think that I had no right to remain there against her wishes. I do believe she was sincere in this. In that she had a child with autism. I have to say that it's really hard for me to fathom why a parent with a child who has autism would support this organization, and yet I see it happen, even when the people supporting them seem perfectly aware of just what it is they are supporting.I don't know what motivates them. I don't know if they hope to get funds or if they have tried the alternative, biomed and nutritional sorts of treatments an they've got the tough nuts that just won't crack that I've heard about, the children who aren't really helped that much by it, or if they've just gotten to be friends with these people over many years and so that makes it hard for them to see things objectively, or if they really think I'm a lunatic in my beliefs about mercury or just very wrong and so AS is justified in wanting to shut me up, or what exactly. I left a phone message with NEOAG. Left my name and phone number and asked them to return my call. I'm curious as to why it took them so long to find out that Autism Treatment Network in Cleveland no longer exists. I'm curious as to what suddenly made them start asking questions about it, if they only recently started questioning where the money went. A couple of police cars came and the police asked me to leave and I

said no and they asked my husband if he couldn't maybe get me to go

home and he said " well no I don't think so, she's pretty passionate

I left a phone message with them at Northeast Ohio Autism Group, a

couple of days ago. No one's gotten back to me, but it's the holidays.

I'll see if I can contact them by email after the holidays if I don't

hear back. I just want to know why it took them seven months to find

out that there's no Autism Treatment Network in Cleveland anymore.
