Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Walter, Your psychiatrist may be worried that your child has a mood disorder, and therefore shouldn't be on an SSRI, but I would hope that he would explain that to you if that's the case. He may also be thinking that Luvox is not the right SSRI for your child - some children react very badly to one or more of these drugs, but eventuallly find " the one " that works for them. Luvox, for example, made my daughter impossible in every way. No other SSRI did that to her. I would ask the doctor to explain his reasoning to you. SSRIs really are the standard pharmocological treatment, often with an antipsychotic added to reduce anger or tics. As any rate, you should certainly get a full explanation for the psychiatrist's decisions. If he doesn't explain, then I'd look for a different doc (easier said than done, I know). in NV Quote
