Guest guest Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 , I know I am being too kind... There is no way that I would pay him or even take my child to him if he offered it FREE. I was pretty clear that we are not going to torture our children in the name of "grueling therepeutical processes". I don't think that there is any disputing the cases, and as I said in my reply to him, if he had done nothing wrong, then he should have changed insurance co, etc.... As for my kindness, what can I say, I am trying to get him to see why we feel the way that we do about his postings. Trust me, it is obvious what side of the sauna I am on...the outside, looking in at someone who must know that the parents communicating on this board are not going to buy his book. My hope is that with kindness and case examples (such that you have supplied) he will eventually tire of this board and move on. Yes, I can block his posts, but I shouldn't have to. This board offers too much good to allow him to bring on the bad, you know? By the way, have you noticed the positive responses you are getting about your chelation experiences. If nothing else, his posts are bringing to light the TRUE therapeutical DAN! protocal that actually helps children without harming them! L. Start your day with - make it your home page Quote

Missy--SAHM/Student Again I am who I am because that's who I am. --- 6, Asperger's All kids are gifted, some just open theirpackages earlier than others. -- Carr Re: Search your doctor out well You are entirely too nice . I am using many of the same protocols and I am not paying nearly what this man was charging. The much of his self proclaimed science was readily known through ARI which exsisted since 1978. There is hope for improvement and recovery even but it doesn't cost and arm and a leg. My doctor bill is the smallest intervention bill I have. My son went from non-verbal to vastly improved and now talking on the DAN protocol and we have spent less than 3000.00 on a excellent out of state doctor fees in 2 years. Look at what this man was charging parents...unbelievable. 40K plus!!!!! KLM <galady3744@...> wrote: Dr. Edelson, I am responding to you as you suggested I read your response. I have read all of your responses. Regardless of the service providing Quackwatch, the cases existed and were settled. And, yes, I did read through them. However, your tone of voice has seemingly changed this afternoon. Can I assume that perhaps you took the prior advice I sent in a post about changing your tone? I would hope so. With that said, I have legal background and am familiar with how cases can be settled. However, I also know that if the case is totally unfounded, the insurance company will typically not settle. And, the legal counsel that you retain would also thoroughly attempt to prevent the settling of such action. Settlements such as the ones that have occurred to you, taint the perception that others have of your abilities. Dr. Edelson, why did you not seek other legal counsel or upon having the first settlement, find an insurance provider that would not hang you to the wolves if you have done nothing wrong. Based upon the dates in the documents, there was a time frame whereupon you could have sought new coverage. It is just a thought of mine. I knew nothing about you or your practices prior to the other day. I do, however, know how to research, know the guidelines of the AMA, know the standards by which the medical practice should strive. I am in no way discounting your research and the information that you have obtained in your 12 years of working with autistic children. I was, as mentioned in a previous email, appalled at the way in which you denegrated the other medical practitioners that we parents take our children to for therapy. If you want me to respect your research and read your book, then you need to show me that you respect all entities as they are. All I had to base my judgment of you on was how you wanted me to read the "healing" process that you had developed. Yet, you are certified in OBGYN, not developmental neurology, not pediatrics, and not actively practicing (as you are retired). Can you, for a moment, begin to understand why the parents on this board may have been offended by your statements? I am new to the dx of autism for my child. Yet, I am actively seeking answers. I can assure you that there is not one parent here that is "afraid" of finding an answer. But, there are many of us who know that a "cure" is improbable, and the best we can hope for is an improvement that will enhance our child's quality of life. I am not afraid of any intense therapy program. But, I am afraid of one thing...that my child should ever go through intolerable pain, multiple blood draws, excessive medications and powerful reactions. My child is perfect in my eyes. He should not be prescribed a painful routine to "heal" the body by which he is touching this earth. And, if your program requires such intense therapy that causes this discomfort for the patient, perhaps you should take every moment that you can and perfect it to the point by which the enormity of the therapeutical pain could be significantly decreased. Well, I have probably said too much already. Once again, in no way am I demeaning your work or expressly stating any thing that can be construed as unethical or belittling. I only ask that you please understand that as parents we are inundated with false claims of healing our children. Simply present yourself with emotions and concern for all children and an appreciation for the medical practice as a whole and your posts may not be viewed as self-centered.
