Guest guest
Lonnie....I so agree with you! My uncontrolled BP has also normalized as has my sleep. I also stopped drinking both Mountain Dew and coffee. I didn't give it up...I just no longer had the craving! I occasionally have a coffee, just as I occasionally have ice cream, because it is tastey...not just to get going in the a.m. My energy, too, is higher and I am accomplishing much more any given day. I like to think it is a combination of the detox abilities of the G. acids and the probiotic effect of the critters. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Happy brewing and imbibing!! Guest guest
Hi I would surmise that many people who have come to take KT on a regular basis have also modified their diet somehow... In this sense some effects specific to KT alone may not be perceived in the general sense of well-being... I get a slight buzz from iKT, energy returns a few minutes later, in drove... Guest guest
I've newly joined this group and continue to be fascinated by the discussions. My reason for buying (expensive) bottles of this tea and trying to figure out how to start brewing is because of my son. At age 14 he broke out in terrible psoriasis which interestingly followed a Hep B reaction. We didn't make the connection between the skin and the vaccinations and so got him his second shot which very nearly killed him with the skin reaction. Over 80% of his body was covered with bloody open scaly lesions. At his worst, he was slowly shutting down and had to take naps just to get through the day. I have some medical training and I recognized that his body was being overwhelmed and was fighting just to survive. At an age where a pimple is a crisis, you can probably imagine how devastating and frightening this was for him and the family (we have 6 kids) Getting no help from the Dr's (their solution was to bath him in steroid cream everyday) I turned to a naturopath who with the help of diet (he's allergic to dairy and eggs), supplements, vitamins (heavy on D) and herbal tonics (including liver castor oil packs) we were able to clear his skin up completely. At the end of last school year he was shunned by all (they thought he was a leper) he had started to withdraw to avoid social interactions and this happy outgoing child turned into a very sad recluse, over the summer when his skin cleared up, he became the outgoing, funny, witty and athletic kid that we had known before this all started. This past week though I noticed some new spots on his neck and head. It is very hard to not go immediately back to the panic stage. Instead we put him back on the supplements and in my internet research I found a few but rather remarkable references to KT and skin conditions. In one reference, a young girl added a few cups of the tea to her daily bath (while drinking 4 ounces 3x day) and foudn it to take away her psoriasis. This posting, however, is the first reference I've found about applying a scoby to an actual sore. I'm going to be trying that (as soon as I can find a scoby, I think I may have found one two towns over). Lat year had a lesion form on his eyelid that closed his eye, the Dr's had told us that we woud have to wait for the psoriasis to go into remission for him to get the use of his eyes back - they were expecting that that would happen in a few months. Imagine, thinking it is acceptable for a child to not see out of a funtioning eye. If I had known about this I would have certainly tried it. I'll let you know of any results I get with KT and psoriasis and with all the other ailments that come with a brood of very young children :-) On 11/2/07, lmccalip <lmccalip@...> wrote: > > > > > > Lonnie/: > > > > Could you please give some details on the external applications - > would be interesting to learn more? > > Thank you! > > > > I will be glad to share a few things w/ you re: external > application of KT........just yesterday my wife was cooking peanut > brittle candy on top of the stove, had just taken pot off to pour up > in pans and some of the candy spilled over onto her thumb-HOT CANDY > STILL COOKING WHILE IT SAT ON HER THUMB......I ran and got a small > bottle of cut up scobies that I have place around the house for > emergencies..........she quickly dipped her whole thumb down in the > jar swished it around a few seconds.....INSTANTLY it quit burning and > there is no blister today or even any tenderness at all on the thumb, > and believe me from years of making this candy and having hot candy > splashed on my hands, that is quite miraculous!!! > > Secondly, when I strain my tea for bottling, I use unbleached coffee > filters, to catch all the yeasties, and ooglies, when the fresh KT is > draining into the jars and finally gets clogged up I pinch the > corners of the filter together, squeeze out remaining tea and then > twist the coffee filters together and put them in a jar..........I > use these filters as a face massage after I shave (it's great for > relieving razor burn), facial blemishes, when your skin is chaffed or > galded, nicks or cuts or scrapes you name it KT helps it. > > Thirdly, I have given cut up scoby pieces to people all around our > town, and they have reported putting them on warts and boils, only to > see them dry up and heal. Guest guest
Yeah!!! Nn. England. Re: Kombuchas euphoric effect? Hi Lonnie, I'm sure you're right, I have to admit that I don't have any achy joints now but I put that down to getting back on my bike. I suppose I was pretty fit to start with so didn't really notice much difference. I really love my KT though and I am sure that drinking more green and black tea with the added benefits of the fermentation is really a benefit. I've just posted pix of the glass of KT champagne supernova that I'm drinking at the moment. I should have put it in a flute, but I think the old Grolsch bottle steered my hand to a beer glass. I wish you could taste it. I'm very pleased with it indeed. : -) Oh, it seems they need approving. Oh well, I'll put them here: http://tinyurl.com/yox4ko http://tinyurl.com/2d3jkg Jim > > > > ... > > >... > > > > > > We both feel better than we have felt in years........it is > saving us > > > $$$ as some of our tastes have changed, we were spending a small > > > fortune on Pepsi Cola that we were hooked on,... > > > > Ah, I think giving up Cola was probably the best thing you did. > I've never liked fizzy pop. Guest guest
Hi, yes, I bottle it and leave it for a few days to two week, this was from two batches ago. It's the best I've made. I really love it I'm making 50% extra this week so I don't have to ration myself. lol It's getting the yeast that makes it so good. If your brew doesn't yield much yeast cheat, add some from somewhere else, whatever works. Jim > > OMG, how did you get that head? That looks wonderful! Guest guest
Hi Jim and EveryOne, I've noticed that taking the starter KT from the bottom of the fermentation container adds more yeasts to the next brew than taking the starter KT from the top of the container. Choosing where to take your starter KT from is one way to balance the yeasts and bacteria in your brews. Another way to increase yeast production is to use some pasteurized honey. Yeast seem to love the honey! Enjoy and keep sharing your discoveries with all of us. Guest guest
Thanks Bev, I usually use the hotel brew as my starter and what's left at the bottom of the jar, most of the time, depending how much I have. Either way the dregs usually stay in the jar, you know that sediment of yeasts, you tend to have to try to get it out. I then usually share everything around the jars to keep things even and most of the time divide up the brew between the bottles again so they're all even and get the same amount of brew yeast. Then I add the special oomph. : -) It is a wild yeast I add so I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't put it back in my brewing jars though.
