Guest guest Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Hello: My name is Deborah,my son is Colin he is 4 yrs old. I have just found out that he is autistic. I knew that something was wrong, but out Ped just kept telling me that he was a boy,he would out grown it,boys are slower ect: Just happened that I took him to another Dr.for an ear infection, and thats when he ask me, " how long have you known he was autistic? " You can only imagine the look on my face, but it was a relief as well since I knew there was something wrong. We have an appointment at the Emory Autism Clinic next Thurday. There is just so much to know, and so much to learn..I feel like I almost need a speed course. What has been your experience with the school systems in Ga? I home school my 11 yr old daughter,I am not pleased at all with our school system in our county. I know that we have one of the worst in the nation. Are there any private schools that take these kids? What about funding all of these treatments? I have already been in contact with the insurance company, they are claiming this is a behavior issue and developmental delay of which they do not cover, isnt this a biomedical condition that produces behavior problems. Do these kids quilify for m-caid,peachcare or what...where else do I look for help? Thanks to Everyone who responds. Deborah Rockmart ga Quote
